Sub : <strong>Report</strong> on “Anumathak Quiz Championship – 2012”
conducted by Kakrapar Gujarat Site, NPCIL
Kakrapar Gujarat Site, NPCIL has organized a General Knowledge Quiz
competition named as “Anumathak Quiz Championship” in Gujarati language for the
students of High schools located in 8 KM radius around the plant site under the Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The main objective of this program is to help
students to improve general awareness and prepare them to face the challenges of
present day competitive world.
To prepare the students for the Quiz Championship, all the 12 schools in 8 km
radius were distributed GK books in Gujarati language in July-2012. Principals and
teachers were briefed and explained about the whole program. The launching of the
“Anumathak quiz Championship – 2012” was held on 10/09/2012 at Community
Centre, KAPS Township, Anumala. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Dakshesh
Thaker, Vice Chancellor, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and Shri R J Patel,
Collector Tapi. A complete demonstration of Quiz format was conducted to explain to all
the 288 participating students from these 12 Schools to help them in their preparation. For
fare competition, Championship was open only for the schools of surrounding villages in 8
km radius, excluding Atomic Energy Central School, Anumala.
The school level Quiz contest was conducted by the KAPS Technical team at each
school on pre decided dates from 19th Oct., 2012 to 2nd Nov., 2012. The list of
participating schools and the winners of this school level program are given in the
Annexure –1. All the participants were very much exited for this tournament and showed
lot of enthusiasm and interest. Winners and Runner-ups of school level quiz contest were
awarded with shield and prizes.
The Semi Final of this quiz program was conducted on 18/12/2012 at
V F Chaudhary High School, Mandavi. Shri K B Upadhaya, District Development Officer,
Tapi attended this programme as Chief Guest along with Shri D M Chauhan, District
Primary Education Officer. The winner team of school level quiz program took part in this
semifinal as representative of their school. The participating schools were divided into 4
groups of 3 schools each on the basis of their performance during school level
competition. List of group wise schools, who participated in the semi final program and the
winners from each group are given in the Annexure – 2.

The Final and Closing function of this Quiz Championship was conducted on
04/01/2013 at Gyandeep High School, Unchamala. The four winner teams of semi final
viz. The Mandavi English medium High school, Mandavi, St. Xavier’s High School,
Dadhvada, The V.F.Chaudhary High School, Mandavi and Nalanda High School, Moticher
took part in the final. The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. P.D. Porey,
Director, SVNIT, Surat and the Guest of Honours Shri S.A. Bharadwaj, Director
(Technical), NPCIL & Ms. Shalini Agrawal, Collector, Tapi by lighting the lamp.
Shri L.K.Jain, Site Director, Kakrapar Gujarat Site, NPCIL, in his Welcome speech,
reaffirmed the Commitment for upliftment of local people in all sphere of life and
assured that this activity will help in their all round development. He thanked all the
students and teachers for their active participation. Shri M.V.Parikh, President, Kakrapar
Township Resident welfare & Recreation Club (KTRWRC) & coordinator of this program
presented report on the Quiz program conducted up to semifinal. He informed that the
whole concept of conducting this quiz is a brain child of Shri L K Jain, Site Director,
Kakrapar Gujarat Site. KTRWRC executed this “EDUTAINMENT” (EDUcation with
enterTAINMENT) program under his direct supervision and guidance. He further informed
that more than 3000 students got benefit of this program. KAPS spent in all about 1600
man hrs. in preparation of questions & inducting them into quiz format and in conducting
the school level as well as interschool quiz competition.
The Final Quiz contest, consisting of 6 rounds, was nicely conducted by the Quiz
Master Shri Yashpal Mahida. The Mandavi English Medium High School, Mandavi won the
final in an interesting Tie breaking round with St. Xavier’s High School, Dadhvada.
Mandavi English medium High school, Mandavi were declared “Anumathak Quiz
Champion–2012” while St. Xavier’s High School, Dadhvada. Mandavi were declared
Runners up. Winning Team was awarded by the rolling Championship Trophy, a
Medal, Certificate and a gift hamper of Rs. 30000/- and the Runner up team was
awarded by a Medal, Certificate and a gift hamper of Rs. 15000/- from Chief Guest
and Guest of Honours. The 3 rd and 4 th position Teams were also awarded by
Certificates and consolation prizes.
On this occasion, chief guest Dr. P D Porey, Director, SVNIT, Surat appreciated
the efforts by Kakrapar Gujarat Site, NPCIL and advised the students to improve their
personality taking advantage of such program and become a good and self dependent
citizen to contribute in development of our country. Guest of honour Ms. Shalini Agrawal
in her speech told that the quality education will play an important role for India to become
a developed country and KAPS has provided an important stage to the students of this
region by creating such competitive program. Guest of Honour Shri Shri S A Bhardwaj,
Director (Technical) congratulated all the participated students and briefed the audience
about various activities taken up by NPCIL for the social development. He further added
that Quiz program conducted by Kakrapar Gujarat Site is a very good initiative and this
program will encourage the students of this region, in enhancing their knowledge. At the
end, Shri M P Hansora, Chief Suptd., KAPS 1&2 thanked all the participants, school
teachers and principals for giving their full support in making this program a grand
success. Program was nicely anchored by Shri M M Pandya. The Final and closing
