Associate <strong>of</strong> Science degrees and certificates are<br />
designed to provide students with specific careerrelated<br />
knowledge and skills. Completing <strong>the</strong><br />
Associate <strong>of</strong> Science degrees requires completing<br />
<strong>the</strong> General Education requirements, <strong>the</strong> courses<br />
required for <strong>the</strong> major and elective courses to<br />
total 60 units. The Del Norte campus <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
several Associate <strong>of</strong> Science degree and certificate<br />
programs.<br />
Addiction Studies (ADCT)<br />
This is a certificate program certified by <strong>the</strong> California<br />
Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators and can lead<br />
to employment opportunities in this field.<br />
Required courses for <strong>the</strong> certificate are:<br />
•Addiction Studies (ADCT) 10, 11, 12, 13, 15,<br />
16, 17, 38, 42<br />
•Sociology (SOC) 34, 42 and two additional<br />
approved Psychology or Sociology courses<br />
Administration <strong>of</strong> Justice, Corrections (AJ, CORR)<br />
This is both a degree and certificate program.<br />
Required courses for this certificate are:<br />
•Administration <strong>of</strong> Justice (AJ) 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 50,<br />
51, 52, 53<br />
Required courses for this degree are:<br />

Nurse Assistant.<br />
Early Childhood Education (ECE)<br />
This is both a degree and certificate program.<br />

General Welding (WT))<br />
This is a certificate program.<br />

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)<br />
This is both a degree and certificate program. Prepare<br />
now for <strong>the</strong> next LVN program which will begin<br />
fall semester 2013. Application to <strong>the</strong> program is<br />
required; qualified students are admitted through a<br />
lottery drawing.<br />
Applicants to <strong>the</strong> LVN program must have met <strong>the</strong><br />
following requirements:<br />
•A high school diploma or GED<br />
•Completion <strong>of</strong> Health Occupations (HO) 110<br />
with a grade <strong>of</strong> ‘C’ or better or possession <strong>of</strong><br />
Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) certification<br />
in California<br />
•Required English and math skills met<br />
by assessment test scores or appropriate<br />
classes<br />
•Biology (BIOL) 1, English (ENGL) 150 and<br />
Math 380 are strongly recommended<br />
Medical Assisting (MA)<br />
This is both a degree and certificate program.<br />
Prerequisites to enroll in <strong>the</strong> courses Medical<br />
Assisting (MA) 155, Medical Assisting I and<br />
Medical Assisting (MA) 165, Medical Assisting II,<br />
are eligibility for English 150 and Math 380.<br />
