pronounced by Bro. James Matheny; the Grand Officers of the Grand Chap<br />
ter were then installed—the procession was again formed and moved to the<br />
City Hotel, where a sumptuous dinner was prepared.<br />
After dinner the procession moved back to the hall, and the Grand Lodge<br />
was called to labor.<br />
Bro. Pickett, on part of the committee appointed to prepare resolutions<br />
upon the death of our late Grand Secretary, made the following report, which<br />
was on motion received and the resolutions adopted:<br />
The committee to whom was referred the subject of reporting resolu<br />
tions on the death of Bro. Mitchell, late Grand Secretary of this Grand<br />
Lodge, would, in accordance with that duty, submit the following:<br />
It having pleased the great disposer of events to call from our midst our<br />
well beloved and lamented Bro. William Mitchell, late Grand Secretary of<br />
this Grand Lodge, it is proper at this time that we pay a tribute to him<br />
" whose memory we revere and whose loss wc deplore."<br />
Resolved, That " we deeply, sincerely and most affectionately sympa<br />
thize with the widow and orphans of our late brother in their afflictive be<br />
reavement."<br />
Resolved, That the members of this Grand Lodge, during the present<br />
communication, as a token of respect for the memory of our late departed<br />
brother, will wear crape on their left arms.<br />
Resolved, That a copy of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to the<br />
widow of our deceased brother.<br />

Bro. Dills offered the following resolution which was unanimously adopt<br />
Resolved, That the thanks of this Grand Lodge be tendered to the<br />
chapter and lodges of Springfield, for the kind reception and excellent enter<br />
tainment provided by them for the members of the Grand Lodge.<br />
An account of Bro. Lavely for $5.15 was allowed and ordered to be paid.<br />
Bro. Whitaker offered the following resolution which was adopted:<br />
Resolved, That the sum of fifteen dollars be allowed Bro. I-avely, for<br />
his services as Deputy Grand Secretary.<br />
Bro. Strong, representative from Reclamation Lodge, No. 54, has leave<br />
ol absence for this communication.<br />
Bro. English, from the Committee on Petitions and Grievances, submit<br />
ted the following report, which on motion was received and recommendation<br />
adopted:
