No. 55, Nashville. The work appears to be correct, but there is no receipt<br />

for the dues paid, $24.00. An explanation is given as follows: That the dues<br />

had been forwarded to the late Grand Secretary, Wm. Mitchell, at Peoria,<br />

Illinois, on the 24th day of September, 1849, with the request that the Grand<br />

Secretary would forward a receipt for the same, but that no answer had ever<br />

been forwarded to this lodge.<br />

The Committee on Returns of Work of Chartered Lodges respectfully<br />

beg leave to report, that they have examined the returns of the following<br />

lodges, made up to the 1st October, 1849, ^ find them correct and their<br />

dues paid—to wit:<br />

Olive Branch, No. 38, Charleston, No. 35, Bloomington, No. 43, Caledonia,<br />

No. 47, Cambridge, No. 49, Carrollton, No. 50, Jackson, No. 53, Trio, No.<br />

57, Fraternal, No. 58, Reclamation, No. 54, Pittsfield, No. 56, Jerusalem, No.<br />

62, St. John's, No. 13, Mt. Joliet, No. 42, Monmouth, No. 37, Benevolent,<br />

They have also examined the returns of Unity Lodge. No. 4S, and find<br />

them correct. The dues of the lodge were remitted by the Grand Lodge at<br />

its last annual communication.<br />

The returns of Griggsville Lodge, No. 45, and Hardin, No. 44, have been<br />

examined and found correct, and their dues are paid.<br />

The returns from Morning Star Lodge, No. 30, are found to be correct.<br />

Accompanying these returns they find appended the following certificate ac­<br />

companying the report:<br />

CANTON, ILLINOIS, April 3, 1850.<br />

This will certify that we enclosed with the returns of this lodge, on or<br />

about the iSth of September, 1S49, thirty-eight dollars, and delivered the<br />

same to Mr. John Wham, for him to convey the said returns and money to<br />

Peoria, and direct the said package to Wm. Mitchell, Grand Secretary of the<br />

Grand Lodge, of A. F. and A. Masons. Peoria.<br />
