Starr Vaughn Equestrian of Wilton, Calif., bred Donner Starr<br />
(Domiro-EM Waranja/Walt Disney I). His dam EM Waranja<br />
is one of Genay Vaughn’s young rider mounts, and placed<br />
sixth at <strong>the</strong> Festival of Champions at Gladstone earlier this<br />
month.<br />
Carrie Harnden of Escalon, Calif., scored over 70% in all of<br />
her classes with her four-year-old <strong>Hanoverian</strong> mare Cabria JW.<br />
They won four of <strong>the</strong>ir five classes at <strong>the</strong> show. Cabria JW is<br />
by <strong>the</strong> Elite stallion Cabalito out of Pagoda, by Prinz Gaylord,<br />
and was bred by Josie Walsh of Los Gatos, Calif. Harnden<br />
purchased Cabria JW from Walsh as a two-year-old.<br />

all three days of <strong>the</strong> Golden State Dressage Classic & CDI* show, scoring 66.97%,<br />
68.289% and 71.842%. Donner Star was bred by Starr Vaughn Equestrian<br />
Center of Wilton, Calif.<br />
“She has jumping lines but she’s proving to be a good dressage<br />
horse,” said Harnden. “I broke her and she’s been very easy<br />
and so uncomplicated. She’s <strong>the</strong> best horse I’ve owned in my<br />
life. Her trainability is amazing.”<br />
This was Cabria’s third show under saddle and she won all of<br />
her classes at <strong>the</strong> Shasta Chapter of <strong>the</strong> CDS show in May and<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Dressage in <strong>the</strong> Redwoods show. She was also named <strong>the</strong><br />
High Score mare at Dressage in <strong>the</strong> Redwoods in Bonny Doon,<br />

<strong>2012</strong> INSPECTION TOUR REMINDER<br />
Mare Inspection Photos Needed<br />
Photos of all new <strong>2012</strong> Elite Mares, Elite Mare Candidates,<br />
High Score <strong>Hanoverian</strong>s and non-<strong>Hanoverian</strong> mares from<br />
<strong>the</strong> inspection sites, new Jumper Breeding Program mares,<br />
and <strong>the</strong> mares upgraded from Studbook to Main Studbook<br />
in <strong>2012</strong> through performance are needed for publication in <strong>the</strong><br />
inspection reports included in <strong>the</strong> fall and winter issues of The<br />
<strong>American</strong> <strong>Hanoverian</strong>, as well as for <strong>the</strong> Mare Book section of<br />
<strong>the</strong> 2013 AHS Breeders’ Guide and Stallion Directory. The AHS<br />
would like to include as many photos of <strong>the</strong>se mares as possible.<br />
Photos must be received immediately after <strong>the</strong> inspections for<br />
use in The <strong>American</strong> <strong>Hanoverian</strong> reports, and no later than<br />
November 20, <strong>2012</strong> for inclusion in <strong>the</strong> 2013 AHS Breeders’<br />
Guide and Stallion Directory.<br />
Calif., last weekend. Cabria was awarded Reserve Champion<br />
Filly at <strong>the</strong> USDF Region 7 Championships last October.<br />
“Cabria was a little tense out <strong>the</strong>re, but her trainability is so<br />
great,” said Harnden of <strong>the</strong>ir Materiale class on Saturday<br />
morning where <strong>the</strong>y scored 78.1%. “She just settled as she<br />
went on out <strong>the</strong>re. She was unflappable. The judge [Sarah<br />
Geikie] loved her. She said all three of her gaits were fabulous<br />
and she could see potential in <strong>the</strong> mare.” n<br />

regularly appear in such publications as The Chronicle of <strong>the</strong> Horse and<br />
Dressage Today.<br />
