(in which case it st<strong>and</strong>s for Primary Intraexchange Carrier). In<br />
some areas intraLATA long distance calls are still h<strong>and</strong>led by your<br />
RBOC, in others you now have a choice.<br />

Plesiochronous - A condition in a synchronized digital network<br />
where communicating devices are each synchronized to a<br />
different timing source of the same accuracy <strong>and</strong> stability. Two<br />
signals are plesiochronous if their corresponding significant<br />
instants occur at nominally the same rate, but not necessarily in<br />
the same phase, with any variation in rate constrained within<br />
specified limits.<br />
