Safaris in tanzania and Kenya
The migration of wildebeest, zebra
and other grazing herbivores, along
with their accompanying predators,
across the plains of Tanzania and
Kenya remains one of the world’s
awe-inspiring spectacles.
The Migration is rarely ever the same in terms
of precise timing or direction. It is influenced
by the signs delivered by Mother Nature: the
rains and the availability of fresh grass.
Generally, from January to March the
wildebeest give birth in the grasslands of
south-eastern Tanzania. As the grasses
dwindle, the herds move to the north-west.
Many of Africa’s impressive predators,
including lion, leopard, hyena and wild
dog, abound as they stalk the weak and the
young that straggle too far from the herds.
The herds are so vast that it takes from
around April until July to complete the
crossing of the Grumeti River. New
predators, in the form of crocodiles, are
another hazard to be faced.
At some time approaching August and
through September the animals move to the
Kenyan border, leaving the Serengeti and
entering the Masai Mara where the crossing
of the Mara River creates one of nature’s
amazing spectacles as the crocodiles feast
on the young, injured or weak animals.
Around October it is time to start the
return journey to the south-east with the
herds heading towards the Ngorongoro
Conservation Area where, in January, the
entire process begins again.

day 1 Fly to the Serengeti
Fly into the Serengeti. Your transfer to
the Camp is a short game drive. Serengeti
Migration Camp is a haven of indulgent
comfort in the raw beauty of the bush. Its
spacious tents, overlooking the Grumeti
River, are luxurious and private, each
with an en suite and a 360-degree deck.
The Camp’s restaurant, split level lounge
and pool are perched on rocky outcrops
overlooking the vast, rugged landscape.

day 2 - 3 Serengeti
An early morning start in the Serengeti
gives you the ultimate game viewing
experience, observing the wildlife at
their most active. The cat family prefers
mornings, and the early light is a
photographer’s dream. Renowned for its
annual migration where vast herds of zebra
and Thomson’s gazelle join the myriad
of wildebeest on their trek, the Serengeti
offers arguably the most scintillating
game-viewing in Africa. There are great
herds of buffalo, elephant and giraffe, along
with thousands of eland, topi, kongoni,
impala and Grant’s gazelle. A bush lunch
is followed by game viewing on the open
plains. Dinner is served beneath the
stunning African sky.

day 4 depart
After breakfast take one last opportunity
to explore the banks of the Grumeti River
before lunch at the lodge and your transfer
to the airstrip for your flight to Arusha.

day 1 Fly to the Masai Mara
Transfer from your Nairobi hotel or the
international airport to Wilson Airport
for your flight to Karen Blixen Camp. This
permanent luxury tented camp will take
you back to a time when the savannah was
seldom visited and the camps were elaborate
and luxurious.

day 2 - 3 Masai Mara
These amazing days are wildlife
extravaganzas with an experienced and
knowledgeable guide in one of the camp’s
open sided 4x4 land cruisers. You can choose
to either spend the whole time out in the
bush, or you can return to the camp for
lunch and an afternoon siesta before your
early evening game drive. Each evening at
the Karen Blixen Camp is rounded off with
sunset cocktails followed by a delicious meal.

day 4 depart
This morning is your last in the Masai Mara.
We suggest requesting an early morning
wake up call so you can enjoy one last game
drive before returning to the camp for
breakfast. You will then be transferred to your
scheduled flight to Nairobi’s Wilson airport.
Upon arrival in Nairobi transfer to the
international airport or your hotel.
