Kashmir Grandeur<br />

Srinagar • Sonmarg • Gulmarg • Pahalgam<br />
Cradled in the lap of majestic mountains of the Himalayas, Kashmir<br />
is the most beautiful place on earth. The state of Jammu & Kashmir<br />
is rightly called ‘Paradise’. It is situated right at the top most part of<br />
the country and if Mother India is a ‘Queen’, then Jammu & Kashmir<br />
surely looks like the ‘Crown’ on her head. From sun-kissed mountains,<br />
lush green valleys, beautiful gardens, to blue lakes, the state of Jammu<br />
and Kashmir has it all.<br />
Day 1: Arrive Srinagar<br />
Welcome to your ‘Kashmir Grandeur’ tour! Arrive into Srinagar<br />
airport. There you will be met and transferred to your houseboat in<br />
Srinagar. In the evening, enjoy a romantic ‘Shikara ride’ on the famous<br />
Dal Lake.<br />

Day 2: In Srinagar • Day Excursion to Sonmarg (90 kms / approx. 3<br />
hour drive)<br />
Today embark on a full day excursion to the picturesque ‘meadow<br />
of gold’ - Sonmarg. The fast flowing Sindh River makes it popular for<br />
trout and mahseer fishing in summer. You can opt for a pony ride to<br />
one of the glaciers for some fun in the snow and ice. Return to your<br />
houseboat in the evening.<br />

Day 3: On to Gulmarg (52 kms / approx. 2 hour drive)<br />
This morning proceed to Gulmarg driving past willow trees, fast<br />
flowing streams and lush green meadows. Gulmarg - the ‘meadow<br />
of flowers’ is an apt term for this idyllic flower - laden spot, offering a<br />
spectacular view of towering snow capped peaks covered with dense<br />
forests of tall conifers, gigantic firs and pine trees. On arrival, check<br />
into your hotel. Thereafter you may wish to stroll leisurely across the<br />
green meadows to one of the world’s highest Golf Course. A must<br />
is a fun-filled ride in the Gondola Lift with compliments of <strong>Cox</strong> and<br />
<strong>Kings</strong> up to Level 1. The rest of the evening is at leisure to relax and<br />
enjoy the beauty of Gulmarg.<br />

Day 4: On to Pahalgam (148 kms / approx. 5 hour drive)<br />
Today depart for Pahalgam - the ‘valley of shepherds’ which is situated<br />
at the confluence of the streams flowing from the river Lidder and<br />
Sheshnag Lake. On arrival into Pahalgam, check into your hotel. The<br />
rest of the evening is free to enjoy the surrounding beauty or take a<br />
stroll in the local market.<br />

Day 5: In Pahalgam • Half Day Excursion to Chandanwari (16 kms /<br />
approx. ½ an hour drive)<br />
This morning proceed on an excursion by local taxi / vehicle to<br />
Chandanwari, an idyllic picnic spot and a gateway for Amarnath Yatra.<br />
Filmgoers will recognize it instantly as it has been a favourite location<br />
in several movies. This excursion is subject to road, weather conditions<br />
and military permission. Return to your hotel for lunch. You are free<br />
for the rest of the evening. Why not stroll along the banks of River<br />
Lidder or shop for Kashmiri handicrafts in the local market.<br />

Day 6: On to Srinagar (87 kms / approx. 3 ½ hour drive)<br />
This morning depart for Srinagar. En route visit the Awantipura<br />
Ruins, an 1100 year old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and built by<br />
King Awantivarman. On arrival into Srinagar, you will be transferred<br />
to your hotel. In the afternoon proceed on a city tour visiting the<br />
Shankaracharya Temple situated atop a hill, followed by the famous<br />
Mughal Gardens – Chasmashahi, Nishand and Shalimar (closed on<br />
Friday). These gardens were where Mughal emperors once relaxed<br />
with their exquisite queens and even today are popular picnic spots.<br />
Also visit the local handicrafts shops where you can purchase local<br />
hand crafted items – shawls, jackets, bed covers, paper mache, carpets<br />
and much more!<br />

Day 7: Depart Srinagar • Return home with happy memories<br />
Today, bid farewell to your ‘Kashmir Grandeur’ tour as you are<br />
transferred to Srinagar airport for your onward journey. (B)<br />
