Leh – The Land of the Blue Lake<br />

Leh • Nubra Valley • Pangong Lake<br />

Leh is one of the favourite tourist destinations located in the<br />

northernmost parts of the country. Lapped in the snow-covered<br />

fringes of the Himalayas, Leh has been the center of Tibeto -<br />

Buddhist culture since ages. Its colorful gompas have attracted devout<br />

Buddhists from all over the globe. Besides, it is also a favorite hiking<br />

locale and is known for some of the best hikes in India.<br />

Day 1: Arrive Leh<br />

Welcome to your ‘Leh – The Land of the Blue Lake’ tour! Arrive<br />

into Leh airport. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. The<br />

afternoon is free for acclimatisation. In the evening, visit the Shanti<br />

Stupa and Sankar Monastery.<br />

Day 2: In Leh<br />

Today, proceed on a full day excursion visiting Shey Palace, the 15th<br />

century summer palace and the monastery of Leh’s Royal family. Then<br />

proceed to the 800 year old gompa at Thiksey built on a hilltop,<br />

modeled on the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa. Later visit Hemis<br />

Monastery, hidden in a gorge, the largest and wealthiest gompa in<br />

Ladakh. The rest of the evening is free.<br />

Overnight stay at the hotel (B, L, D)<br />

Day 3: On to Nubra Valley via Khardungla Pass (120 kms / approx.<br />

5 hour drive)<br />

This morning, drive to Nubra Valley, popularly known as Ldorma<br />

or ‘the valley of flowers’ via Khardungla Pass - the world’s highest<br />

motorable road (18380 feet). On arrival, check into your camp. The<br />

rest of the evening is at leisure.<br />

Overnight stay at the campsite (B, PL, D)<br />

Day 4: On to Leh (120 kms / approx. 5 hour drive)<br />

This morning, drive to Leh, once again via Khardungla Pass, the world’s<br />

highest motorable road. The evening is at leisure to discover Leh<br />

bazaar for souvenirs or you can take a walk and explore Leh Jokhang<br />

/ Leh mosque.<br />

Overnight stay at the hotel (B, PL, D)<br />

Day 5: In Leh • Day Excursion to Pangong Lake (160 kms / approx.<br />

5 hour drive)<br />

In the morning, proceed to visit the amazing Pangong Lake to the<br />

east of Leh, crossing Changla Pass 17500 feet / 5300 mts. Pangong is<br />

one of the largest lakes in the Himalayas spanning 140 kms in length<br />

and 3-10 kms in width, half of which is in Tibet. Packed lunch will be<br />

served en route. Explore the crystal clear blue salt water lake. Later,<br />

return to Leh.<br />

Day 6: Depart Leh • Return home with happy memories<br />

Today, bid farewell to your ‘Leh – The Land of the Blue Lake’ tour as<br />

you are transferred to Leh airport for your onward journey. (B)<br />
