Small but beautiful, Sikkim is situated in the Eastern Himalayas.
Spread below the Mount Khanchendzonga, at 28225 feet the third
highest mountain in the world and revered by the Sikkimese as their
protective Deity. Sikkim shares her borders with Tibet in the North,
Bhutan in the East, Nepal in the West and State of West Bengal in
the South.
Day 1: Arrive New Jalpaiguri / Bagdogra | On to Kalimpong (85 kms
/ approx. 3 hour drive)
Welcome to your ‘Eastern Himalayas’ tour! Arrive into New
Jalpaiguri railway station / Bagdogra airport prior 1100 hrs, where
our representative will assist you. Later proceed to Kalimpong – a
pretty hill station with the majestic Himalayas in the background and
gently rolling hills around. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest
of the day is at leisure to visit the local market.

Day 2: On to Gangtok (80 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
In the morning visit Durpin Hill, which has the famous Zong Dog
Palri Fo - Brang Monastery which belongs to the same Buddhist sect
as the present Dalai Lama. Followed by Mangal Dham, Delo View
Point, which appears to be the roof - of - the - world and the highest
point in Kalimpong, Dr. Graham’s Home and the colourful flower
nurseries. Return to your hotel. Afternoon depart for Gangtok, the
capital city of Sikkim. On arrival, check into your hotel. Overnight stay
at the hotel (B, D)
Day 3: In Gangtok | Full Day Excursion to Tshangu Lake and Baba
Mandir (45 kms / approx. 3 hour drive)
Today proceed on a day excursion to the picture postcard sight of

Tshangu Lake (12,400 ft.), surrounded by high snowy hills followed
by a tour to Baba Mandir (14000 ft). Return to your hotel in Gangtok
by evening.

Day 4: On to Pelling (132 kms / approx. 5 hour drive)
Today, after breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Rumtek Monastery
- the centre for the Kagyupa order of Tibetan Buddhism, followed by
the Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handloom and Handicraft
and then the Enchey Monastery which is located in the middle of a
forest offering a brilliant view of the Kanchenjunga range. Depart for
Pelling. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the evening is
free. Overnight stay at the hotel (B, D)
Day 5: On to Darjeeling (80 kms / approx. 4 hour drive)
This morning, depart for a sightseeing tour of Pelling visiting Pelling
Monastery, Rimbi Falls, Kanchenjunga Falls and Khecheopalri - the
wishing lake. Afrternoon drive to Darjeeling (6800 ft.) - one of the
most magnificent hill resorts in the world, also known as the ‘Queen
of the Hills’. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the evening
is free for leisure activities.

Day 6: In Darjeeling
Early morning (around 0330 hrs), you will drive to Tiger Hill (1000
ft) to witness a magnificent sunrise over the Eastern Himalayan
peaks with fabulous views of the famous Mt. Kanchenjunga (28,208
ft). This is subject to weather conditions. Thereafter, return to your
hotel. Later, visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Ghoom
Monastery, Batasia Loop, Zoological Park (closed on Thursday),
Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Centre (closed on Sunday) and the
Tea Garden (outer view). The rest of the evening is free. So enjoy
strolling on the Mall Road.

Day 7: On to New Jalpaiguri / Bagdogra (90 kms / approx. 3 ½
hour drive) • Return home with happy memories
Today bid farewell to your ‘Eastern Himalayas’ tour as you are
transferred to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport for
your onward journey.
