CUBA<br />
The publishers on the island <strong>of</strong> Cuba zealously<br />
and faithfully followed the admonition <strong>of</strong> the apostle<br />
Paul by preaching the Word during the past year.<br />
The results prove the blessing <strong>of</strong> the Lord on their<br />
activity. In fact, their devotion to the people <strong>of</strong><br />
good will aided 1,500 to take their stand with the<br />
Lord's organization, proclaiming the good news. Although<br />
there are now 7,505 publishers in Cuba since<br />
that peak was reached in July, there is still a tremendous<br />
amount <strong>of</strong> work to be done in the land.<br />
1'here are approximately 17,000 persons associated<br />
with <strong>Jehovah's</strong> witnesses, and many <strong>of</strong> these still<br />
need help to get a better understanding <strong>of</strong> the truth.<br />
This assistance is being given them through home<br />
Bible studies. In addition, there are thousands upon<br />
thousands <strong>of</strong> other honest-hearted, sincere persons<br />
who need the opportunity to learn <strong>of</strong> the Kingdom<br />
promises. Jehovah God is patiently giving the organization<br />
on earth more time to preach this good<br />
news.<br />
Through the home Bible-study work in Cuba great<br />
advances have been accomplished. Of course, it meant<br />
going from door to door first, then starting back-calls<br />
and following through with the Bible-study work.<br />
The figures show a 35 per cent increase in Bible-study<br />
activity over the previous year. The branch servant<br />
gives us some reports as to just how the Cuban people<br />
Ieel about the truth.<br />
The importance <strong>of</strong> calling back and conducting studies is<br />
Hhown in the following experience reported by a pioneer.<br />
He says, "While working in our territory we made a backcall<br />
on a humble family <strong>of</strong> good will. After finishing the<br />
call, we promised to return the following week. However,<br />
due to many things coming up, we neglected to make this<br />
call. About two months later one <strong>of</strong> the young boys from<br />
this good-will family called at our house, and asked why<br />
we didn't come to visit them any more. He said that practically<br />
his whole family had turned to spiritualism. His<br />
mother said that the fault was ours. If we had gone to<br />
their home and taught them about God and his purposes
