<strong>Year</strong>book 241<br />
Another man after having read a booklet made a special<br />
trip to the Society's <strong>of</strong>fice so that he might obtain more<br />
literature. This was supplied him together with the name<br />
<strong>of</strong> the company servant and the address <strong>of</strong> the company<br />
meeting place.<br />
From the far end <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> Norway's many long, narrow<br />
valleys came a letter expressing the interest <strong>of</strong> a man in<br />
"The Truth Shall Make You Free". He too wished more<br />
literature, which was sent him.<br />
From an island with a population <strong>of</strong> three families came<br />
a letter to the <strong>of</strong>fice from a person asking us to send some<br />
literature so she might have something to distribute when<br />
she was able to come to the mainland. Another man writes<br />
in reply to our letter to him explaining our method <strong>of</strong><br />
preaching, "Of course I want to be one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jehovah's</strong><br />
witnesses."<br />
These are a few <strong>of</strong> the many letters we have received<br />
from the bolder <strong>of</strong> the many isolated people living the<br />
length and breadth <strong>of</strong> this land who are hungry for the<br />
truth and desiring more knowledge so that they too might<br />
have a share in praising Jehovah.<br />
Another thing that gave us great joy was the number <strong>of</strong><br />
publishers reporting during the summer months. Previous<br />
years the summer months were very low in the number <strong>of</strong><br />
publishers reporting. After holding this sorry fact before<br />
the brethren at all assemblies and continually in the Informant<br />
it was truly a time <strong>of</strong> rejoiCing to see that in July<br />
we were only one publisher under our peak in April. Then<br />
in August we reached a new peak for the year, <strong>of</strong> 1,647<br />
publishers. We had seven new peaks in number <strong>of</strong> publishers<br />
during the year.<br />
POLAND<br />
Not much news came through from Poland by the<br />
end <strong>of</strong> the year. It was learned through the newspapers<br />
that the minister <strong>of</strong> public ministry, Major<br />
Dziemidok, stated the organization known as <strong>Jehovah's</strong><br />
witnesses was banned; and, according to the minister,<br />
it was working in the interests <strong>of</strong> the United States<br />
government against Poland. He claimed that <strong>Jehovah's</strong><br />
witnesses were a spy organization with headquarters<br />
in Brooklyn. It is certainly hard for people who are<br />
allowed to think and express themselves freely to<br />
conceive how the minds <strong>of</strong> some people work, such<br />
as those with the communistic mind in Poland. The
