The Year in Review
Donor Appreciation Party
The DaVinci Exhibit at the Maryland Science Center
provided the ideal backdrop to celebrate our donors
and scholars. The event was capped off by an exciting
announcement that the W.K. Kellogg Foundation awarded a
grant to the Carson Scholars Fund in the amount of $260,000
for a 10-year program evaluation study.

Senior Send-off
Discovering Promise Rewarding Excellence
Captain Ben Carson and First Mate Candy hosted the
2009 Senior Send-off and Volunteer celebration aboard the
Duchess of Pintail Yacht this past July.
The spectacular evening featured inspirational speeches
from board members Wes Guckert and Lou Bremer. Carson
Scholar Alumni Tina Paglia ’99 impressed the group with
her remarks and new scholar Casey Butler dazzled on her
bassoon. Everyone enjoyed friendship and the glorious
sights of the Inner Harbor at sunset as our graduating
scholars cruised into their futures.
