Aliyah Caldwell
Grade 10 | Baltimore, MD | Three-Time Carson Scholar!
Aliyah Caldwell is a three-time Carson Scholar. She currently attends The Baltimore School for the Arts
High, where she is an honor roll student. Aliyah has been dancing since she was four years old, and is now
majoring in ballet and modern dance. She is a member of the Ava Fields Dance Ministry, and performs at
senior citizen homes, nursing homes, and churches. She has attended intensive summer dance programs at
the Alvin Ailey Dance Studio and The Dance Theatre of Harlem. Outside of dance, Aliyah is a participant
Giant Foods.
Julius Romano
Grade 4 | Pittsburgh, PA
Julius Romano is involved in a wide variety of activities, encompassing everything from robotics to
drawing, swimming to playing the violin. His teachers describe him as a good role model, eager to
help other students, and very motivated. Perhaps most striking is his commitment to reading, which he
demonstrated last year when he advocated for his community library and helped to save it from being
closed. He attended rallies, community town hall meetings, and wrote letters to local officials and
politicians. He was even interviewed by the local television and radio news and the newspaper. For his
efforts, he received a Hero Award from his State Representative.
Madeline Adamczyk
Grade 8 | North Hills, PA
Madeline Adamczyk is described by her teachers as an effective leader and committed student – last we
heard, she hadn’t missed a single assignment in over a year and a half! Beyond her class assignments, she
is a regular participant in academic competitions. She has had two poems published in Pennsylvania’s
Celebration of Young Poets; placed first in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition;
placed first in several local forensics competitions; and won a “Super Trivia” event at the Duquesne
University English Festival. Despite her busy schedule, Madeline still finds time to volunteer with the
Salvation Army, Christian Children’s Network, and Vincentian Regency Home for the elderly.
Edward Mosley, III
Grade 11 | Atlanta, GA | Two-Time Carson Scholar
Edward Mosley, III is a two-time Carson Scholar who is committed to volunteering and the environment.
Last summer, he attended a program called “Earth Tomorrow” at the Georgia Institute of Technology,
and improved his knowledge of the environment and his leadership skills. During the school year, he
participates in his school’s “Earth Tomorrow” club, helping to clean up and beautify abandoned spaces by
planting flowers and greenery. His teachers praise his work ethic, and are impressed by his involvement in
a variety of academic, volunteer, and athletic pursuits.
