Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska [37]<br />

The most popular area for climbing are the old,<br />

every uneven limestone walls in Kobylańska Valley,<br />

the Rzędkowickie Rocks, the ridge between Mirów<br />

and Bobolice and Zborów Mountain reserve. These<br />

climbing routes can reach 70 meters and their difficulty<br />

is suitable for all levels.<br />

Tatra Mountains [38]<br />

High mountain climbing within the area of the<br />

Tatry National Park is allowed in certain designated<br />

areas. Summits in the Tatra Mountains reach 2500<br />

meters. It is not only the altitude but also the technically<br />

demanding routes which attract mountaineers.<br />

Granite walls and cliffs bearing poetic names: Kazalnica,<br />

Zamarła Turnia or Kościelec inspire composers,<br />

painters and mountain climbing virtuosos.<br />

The popular climbing routes in the Tatry National<br />

Park are: Morskie Oko –from Białczańska Pass, through<br />

Rysy, Mięguszowieckie Szczyty and Cubryna to Wrota<br />

Chałubińskiego, Five Lake’s Valley - from Świnica to<br />

Zawrat Pass, Hala Gąsienicowa – from Żółta Pass<br />

through Granaty, Kozi Wierch, Zawratowa Turnia,<br />

Świnica to Świnicka Pass and other. During periods of<br />

danger of avalanches you can train on the south-west<br />

slope of Sucha Jama (an old stove for processing limestone)<br />

in Hala Gąsienicowa.<br />

Sokole Góry (Hawk Mountains) [39]<br />

(near Jelenia Góra, South-Western <strong>Poland</strong>)<br />

Granite rock, Sokoliki, is invaded by aficionados<br />

and amateurs of rock climbing. Different difficulty<br />

routes: II, III, IV to VI – requiring excellent technique<br />

– are laid out on six natural climbing walls. There are<br />

various obstacles: pillars, chimneys and cuts. But there<br />

are also numerous crevices which can be used for security<br />

devices: stoppers, hex and friends.<br />
