El Superintendente de la Ciudad de
Newburgh Jeffrey Wynans esta pidiéndole
a los residentes que voluntariamente
conserven el agua. Debido
a la falta de nieve, los niveles de reserva
de agua por este tiempo del año están inusualmente
bajos, y el pronóstico a largo
plazo sugiere que podría no haber suficiente
precipitación para llenar los reservorios
a niveles normales.
Wynans dijo, “Nuestros niveles de reserva
podrían bajar a un punto crítico durante
los próximos meses forzando a la

Residents asked to voluntarily conserve water
City of Newburgh Water Superintendent
Jeffrey Wynans is
asking residents to voluntarily
conserve water. Due to lack of snow,
reservoir levels are unusually low for
this time of year, and the long term
forecast suggests there may not be
enough precipitation to replenish reservoirs
to normal levels.
Wynans said, “Our reservoir levels
could drop to a critical point during
the next couple of months forcing the
City to impose emergency water restrictions.
In an effort to avoid this, we
are asking residents to undertake some
simple water conservation measures.
During the past 11 years a number of
communities throughout the County
have declared water emergencies, but
with the cooperation of City residents
we have not had to do so to date. With
your continued support, I hope that we
can maintain our good track record.”
What you can do to help:
1. Take short showers instead of baths,
they use less water.
2. Keep a container of water in the
refrigerator for drinking.
3. Don’t leave the water running
while shaving, brushing your teeth, or
washing the dishes.
4. Run dishwashers and washing
machines with full loads.
5. Use a car wash instead of washing
by hand; if you do wash by hand turn
off the hose except for rinsing.
6. Use a broom to keep driveways
and sidewalks clean instead of a hose.
7. Fix those leaking facets, showerheads
and especially toilets; a leaky
toilet is the number one fixture that
wastes the most amount of water in a
home.
8. NEVER OPEN A FIRE
HYDRANT, this wastes large amounts
of water and creates a dangerous situation
in the streets. Opening fire
hydrants lowers water pressure to
neighboring fire hydrants making it
more difficult or impossible to fight
fires.
Remember: Water is our most precious
resource; please help to conserve
it. Your anticipated cooperation
will be much appreciated.
