EL SECTOR DE LA PESCA EN SENEGAL<br />
1.4.3 Pesca Continental y Acuicultura<br />
La pesca continental está esencialmente ubicada en las siguientes zonas geográficas:<br />
- El río Senegal (340.000 km²) en la región <strong>de</strong> Saint-Louis.<br />
- El río Saloum (29.000 km²) en las regiones <strong>de</strong> Fatick y Kaolack.<br />
- La zona oriental <strong>de</strong> Senegal en la región <strong>de</strong> Tambacounda.<br />
- El río Casmance (6.300 km²) en las regiones <strong>de</strong> Ziguinchor y Kolda.<br />
A estos ríos hay que añadir el estuario <strong>de</strong> La Somone, la laguna <strong>de</strong> Mbodiène, la laguna<br />
<strong>de</strong> Joal y el Lago Guiers que se extien<strong>de</strong> sobre 350 km². Se estima alre<strong>de</strong>dor <strong>de</strong> 50.000<br />
personas las que <strong>de</strong>pen<strong>de</strong>n <strong>de</strong> este tipo <strong>de</strong> pesca. El potencial <strong>de</strong> captura actual se estima<br />
en 50.000 toneladas por año, aunque otras fuentes lo sitúan en 100.000 toneladas.<br />
Los datos oficiales <strong>de</strong> la Dirección <strong>de</strong> la Pesca Continental y Acuicultura (DPCA) datan<br />
<strong>de</strong>l año 2000 cuyos valores pue<strong>de</strong>n observarse a continuación:<br />
