En el caso <strong>de</strong>l Volcán <strong>Sumaco</strong>,<br />
el magma se formó a gran<strong>de</strong>s<br />
profundida<strong>de</strong>s, por lo que sus rocas<br />
volcánicas son diferentes a <strong>la</strong>s <strong>de</strong> los<br />
otros volcanes que están en Ecuador<br />
y América <strong>de</strong>l Sur.<br />
Los aspectos geológicos <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> <strong>ecoruta</strong><br />
son visibles <strong>de</strong>s<strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> salida <strong>de</strong> Quito,<br />
don<strong>de</strong> se cruzan importantes<br />
fal<strong>la</strong>s geológicas a lo <strong>la</strong>rgo <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong><br />
parte occi<strong>de</strong>ntal <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> Cordillera<br />
Oriental <strong>de</strong> los An<strong>de</strong>s hasta el volcán<br />
<strong>Sumaco</strong>. El volcán <strong>Sumaco</strong> es el<br />
más lejano con respecto a <strong>la</strong> zona <strong>de</strong><br />
subducción y el único en el Ecuador<br />
y <strong>la</strong> región <strong>de</strong> América <strong>de</strong>l Sur<br />
<strong>de</strong>bido a su composición, teniendo<br />
<strong>la</strong>vas más fluidas <strong>de</strong>bido a su poca<br />
concentración <strong>de</strong> silicio.
