Conclusiones<br />
Este estudio, muestra que el PEBD (considerado como inerte) puede ser degradado por el<br />
microorganismo Brevibacillus borstelensis tal y como se describe a continuación:<br />
- B. borstelensis utiliza el PEBD como fuente de carbono a <strong>la</strong>s temperaturas 37 ºC, 46 ºC y<br />
55 ºC durante 1 mes de incubación. También es capaz de utilizar PS como fuente de<br />
carbono a <strong>la</strong>s temperaturas de 46 y 55 ºC en el mismo tiempo de incubación.<br />
- La presencia de surfactante (Tween 80) facilita <strong>la</strong> biodegradación del PEBD, en <strong>la</strong>s tres<br />
temperaturas ensayadas (37 ºC, 46 ºC y 55 ºC ).<br />
- La irradiación del PEBD como pretratamiento fotooxidativo previo a <strong>la</strong> incubación con B.<br />
borstelensis a 55 ºC muestra el mayor grado de biodegradación (% pérdida de peso)<br />
obser<strong>va</strong>do en el ensayo.<br />
- Aprovechamiento del metano como fuente de energía evitando que se libere a <strong>la</strong><br />
atmósfera.<br />
- Disminución del efecto invernadero, re<strong>la</strong>cionado directamente con <strong>la</strong> degradación de <strong>la</strong><br />
capa de ozono.<br />
