been tested in adsorption experiments from water solutions of different<br />

concentrations. Additional experiments were carried out to evaluate these<br />

materials as active phase of electrochemical sensors for heavy metal <strong>de</strong>tection.<br />

For instance, the anodic signals obtained after preconcentration of the electro<strong>de</strong><br />

based on cationized HPMC-Cloisite in Pb 2+ or Cd 2+ indicate the retention of<br />

these ions by this bionanocomposite, and so the modified electro<strong>de</strong> could be<br />

useful for the quantitative <strong>de</strong>termination of those pollutants.<br />
