Aunque muchos fabricantes garantizan sus filtros
hasta por 20 mil kilómetros, es recomendable
cambiarlos según las especificaciones originales.
Even though many car makers guarantee their filters for up to
20 thousand kilómeters, it’s recommended to replace them
according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
FILTRO DE AIRE
El filtro de aire se encarga de retener el paso de partículas
indeseadas dentro del múltiple de admisión que se encuentran
en el medio ambiente, permitiendo sólo el paso del aire
puro que contiene principalmente gases nobles y oxigeno
que funcionarán de ‘comburente’ dentro de la cámara de
combustión.
Este elemento lo encontraremos en el compartimiento del
motor, al inicio del tubo de admisión en un compartimiento
normalmente de plástico, sujeto a una tapa con broches
metálicos o en ocasiones atornillada.
La aplicación incorrecta o incluso no contar con este componente,
puede ocasionar serios problemas como: daño
en válvula de marcha mínima (IAC), daño al sensor de flujo
de aire (MAF), suciedad en cuerpo de aceleración, desgaste
prematuro de válvulas de admisión y suciedad en la cámara
de combustión, ocasionando problemas de marcha mínima
del motor así como las emisiones contaminantes fuera de
especificaciones de acuerdo a los datos del fabricante.
Los fabricantes de vehículos solicitan el remplazo de este
componente en todo tipo de servicios, teniendo en cuenta
que el servicio mínimo llamado “servicio menor” o “servicio
básico” se programa en promedio cada 5,000 a 10,000 Km.
(6,200 Millas) de acuerdo a las indicaciones del fabricante.
Diversos fabricantes de filtros garantizan el correcto funcionamiento
de sus filtros hasta por 20,000 Km. (12,500 Millas)
Aunque la decisión de cambio de este elemento termina en
el usuario final es recomendable siempre seguir las indicaciones
del fabricante de vehículos para mantener vigente,
su garantía.
Recomendaciones para filtros de aire:
a) Verifique que su vehículo cuente con filtro de aire.
b) Verifique que no se encuentre sucio
ya sea de polvo, tierra o aceite.
c) Verifique que el compartimiento del
filtro cierre completamente.
AIR FILTER
The air filter is responsible for retaining unwanted particles
found in the environment from going inside the intake
manifold, allowing only the flow of clean air containing
mainly noble gases and oxygen that act as ‘oxidizers’
within the combustion chamber.
This filtering element can be found in the engine
compartment, at the start of the air intake pipe, inside
a case normally made out of plastic, attached to a cover
fastened with metal clips or screws.
Wrong application or the lack of this component can cause
serious problems such as damage to the idle air control
valve (IAC) or the airflow sensor (MAF), a dirty throttle body,
premature wear of intake valves and dirt in the combustion
chamber, all this can also cause problems with the
engine idle RPMs and emissions outside manufacturer’s
specifications.
Vehicle manufacturers ask to replace this component
on every service, considering that the minimum service
called “minor service” or “basic service” is programmed on
average every 5,000 to 10,000 km. (6,200 miles) according
to the manufacturer.
Several filter manufacturers guarantee the correct
operation of their filters up to 20,000 km. (12,500 miles)
Although the decision to change this element is up to
the end user, it is always recommended to follow the
manufacturer’s indications to maintain your warranty
valid.
AIR FILTER RECOMMENDATIONS:
a) Make sure your vehicle is equipped with an air filter.
b) Check that is not dirty either from dust, dirt or oil.
c) Check that the filter compartment closes completely.
