6.1 Instrument Installation

Install the measuring station in a location, that satisfies the following conditions:

• safe position for basic instrument Rheometer (measuring drive, stand, control unit and cable 1,5 m);

• do not cover the ventilation holes on the backside of the control unit;

• connection between PC and control unit: data cable ca. 2m length;

• position the Peltier control unit on another surface to avoid vibrations.

The working environment of the measuring place should not be extremely hot, cold or clammy. We

recommend working at normal room temperature. Please avoid conditions and rooms where temperature and

humidity are extremely changing.

Always protect the device (complete measuring place) from:

• dirt and dust;

• direct sunlight;

• heat emitting objects (e.g. heaters);

• objects with high electromagnetic field (e.g. loudspeaker, motor);

• fluids and corrosive chemicals.

6.2 Instrument Connection

6.2.1 Connection of the Rheometer with an automatic distance adjustment

Couple the upper tempering

• If it’s not already delivered accordingly, turn the upper tempering so, that the ashlar-formed part of the

adapter is located between the stand rods and place it on the ring of basic Peltier Plate with temperature

control;

• the hose, which is located closer to the gas pressure spring, should be bypassed left from the spring,

another one – on the right, rotate the ball handle of the coupling to the left;

• free the knurled screw (2) (Figure 1) and push the measuring drive down till the coupling encloses the

adapter and block the adapter by turning the ball handle to the right;

• plug the hose connections and connectors in lateral bushes of the basic plate (8) (Figure 1).

Making connections between the measuring drive and the control unit

• Connect for it two cables of measuring drive with two connectors to the rheometer (5) of the control

unit (Figure 8);

• furthermore, use two individual cables of the basic plate according to the number of pins to connect

with the control unit, use for it the connector to the basic plate (4) (Figure 8).

Connecting the mains cable

• The mains cable is to be joined to the control unit of the rheometer via the connector (6) (Figure 8).

Note: the cables, that are led with other hoses in a black hose, must be connected to the Peltier tempering.

Startup the plate-plate measuring system

• First, the Peltier-temperated basic plate is to be connected to the Peltier control unit, use for it two

coolant hoses of Peltier-temperated basic plate and put them into the sockets (13) (Figure 9) of the

Peltier control unit. Please note that the hose connections (13) are arranged according to the

appropriate label (1 or 2). The hose with the number 1 must be inserted into the hose connector 1 and

the hose with the number 2 – correspondent to the hose connector 2.
