7 Software RHEOTEST ® RN 5 Manager
7.1 System Requirements
For installation and working with the software, the following requirements have to be met:
• Personal Computer Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 or above;
• Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 (normally included in operating system Windows);
• Processor: at least Pentium 4 or comparable, frequency of 1,7GHz or above;
• Working storage at least 1 Gbyte;
• The required hard disk space depends on the amount of data to be managed; through an optimal data
structure, the requirement on the hard disk is very low, and there are usually no restrictions due to low
disk store at the current PC systems;
• Either a USB interface or a CD-ROM drive is required for installation (depending on the supplied data
carrier);
• One USB interface for connection to rheometer;
• For temperature control system further USB interface (or COM port) is necessary;
• Optional printer port with printer.
7.2 Installation of the Software RHEOTEST RN 5 Manager
The software package is included in the data carrier and is installed under Windows.
Note: The software installation should be performed with administrator rights.
• Insert the USB stick into a USB port or insert CD-ROM into a free drive;
• In Windows start menu Run “disk drive:setup” OK or select drive with Explorer and start file SETUP.EXE;
• Perform further installation in accordance with the on-screen instructions, by default the RHEOTEST ® RN
5 Manager is installed in C:\RHEOTEST\RN5 Manager, access violations may occur when using other file
folder;
• Start the program in the Windows Start menu, select Programs RHEOTEST RN or from the desktop.
7.2.1 Login
To log on the software RHEOTEST RN 5 Manager, different logins with appropriate access rights are
available:
User name Password Rights
Operator no password execution of tests and access to created jobs and methods
Engineer engineer additional to operator, additional set up of communication and creating
of jobs and methods
Administrator rheotest additional to engineer, additional configuration of measuring systems,
creating of new measuring systems as well as change the system
language
7.2.2 Set up the Interfaces
• Switch on all devices;
• Start the program and login, for example, with user: „Engineer “; password „engineer “;
• Select and set up the interfaces for rheometer RHEOTEST RN as well as optional for temperature control
in menu „Settings “– „Communication Settings... “.
