It has always been said that behind a

great man there is always a great

woman, well I have always said that

within a great pilot there is always a

great person.

I say great pilot because they are all

great pilots, no matter how small

their stature, their age or their

achievements, if they are known or if

nobody knows them.

Those driving magicians who always

go to the limit whatever their speed,

always fighting with the greatest of

their enemies, "the chronometer".

Pilot & Person, with some objectives

that I have set myself to fulfill, the

first of which is to make Motorsport

drivers and their most human side

known through entertaining but

above all the most fun interviews

possible.

Meeting pilots who on many

occasions we had never even heard

of, but behind each pilot there is

always a beautiful story, a sacrifice,

a daily fight, tears, smiles, a reward,

etc.

I hope that most of these interviews

are to your liking since I did them

with all my enthusiasm thinking of all

Periodista, viajera, motorista y escritora. Soy Alicia Sornosa (Madrid 1973), una apasionada del

automovilismo, el snowboard, la vela y en general todo lo que tenga un motor de combustión o sea

un deporte de riesgo.

Salí en plena crisis a dar «una vuelta en moto». En octubre de 2013 regresé a España tras haber

recorrido con mi moto los cinco continentes y coronándome como la única europea y mujer de habla

hispana de este siglo en haber dado una vuelta al mundo con su moto.

Un viaje al que le han sucedido muchos más y en los que no ha faltado la aventura, el esfuerzo y la

ayuda social.

En mis viajes me ha ocurrido de todo y en esta formación Ruteon quiero que salgas a viajar en moto

sin miedos. Quiero enseñaros cómo preparar la moto, equipamiento, averías, trámites y burocracia

para cruzar fronteras, o cómo transportar la moto de un continente a otro. Todo, para que cojas tu

motorsport, snowboarding, sailing and in general everything that has a combustion engine or is

a risky sport.

I went out in the middle of the crisis to take "a motorcycle ride". In October 2013 I returned to

Spain after having traveled with my motorcycle the five continents and crowning myself as the

only European and Spanish-speaking woman of this century to have gone around the world with

her motorcycle.

A trip that has been followed by many more and in which there has been no lack of adventure,

In my travels everything has happened to me and in this Ruteon formation I want you to go out and travel

by motorcycle without fear. I want to teach you how to prepare the motorcycle, equipment, breakdowns,

del mundo, que para mi es sencillo saber qué

comer y dónde dormir, me ha hecho levantar

A los 14 me saqué la licencia de

ciclomotor, el carnet de moto

"grande"me lo saqué después

que el de coche.

¿Cómo recuerdas tu

primer viaje en moto?

Con mucha ilusión, lo recuerdo

divertido y asombroso. Fue con

una Sporster 883 a Andorra

desde Madrid.

¿Cuál es tu mejor recuerdo desde que

empezaste?

Siempre recuerdo los momentos de intimidad con

otras personas, en sus casas, en una charla en medio

del campo, paseando, cuando entrego la ayuda que

he conseguido durante el viaje ... Hay tantos buenos

recuerdos que uno solo es complicado, aunque

cuando llegué al cartel de Alaska, fue uno de los

momentos más importantes de mi vuelta al mundo en

solitario. Y la vez que del Pozo que perforábamos en

Etiopía salió agua, fue otro gran momento para todos

los que estábamos trabajando...y los que vivían allí.

What is your best memory since you

started?

I always remember the moments of intimacy with other

people, in their homes, in a chat in the middle of the

countryside, walking, when I give the help, I have

obtained during the trip ... There are so many good

memories that one is only complicated, although when I

arrived at the Alaska poster, it was one of the most

important moments of my solo trip around the world. And

the time del Pozo that we drilled in Ethiopia water came

out, it was another great moment for all of us who were

working... and those who lived there.


Tenemos conocimientos de que los pilotos llevan una preparación

física importante, ¿qué tipo de preparación física necesita una

moto-viajera?

Pese a que es mejor estar en forma, no es muy importante. Durante mis viajes ruedo tranquila y si necesitos

descansar más o hacer menos kilómetros, lo hago. Es más, la preparación psicológica que la física, aguantar

tormentas de arena en rectas interminables se supera mejor con una buena cabeza que con unos buenos músculos.

During my travels I roll quietly

and if you need to rest more or

do fewer kilometers, I do. What's

more, psychological preparation

enduring sandstorms on endless

straights is better overcome with

a good head than with good

muscles.

¿acostumbras a

hacer algún deporte

en tus ratos libres?

Me gusta montar en bici, caminar,

hacer yoga, la vela y el esquí…pero

sinceramente, no soy una

deportista radical.

Do you usually do

any sport in your free

time?

I like to ride a bike, walk, do yoga,

sailing and skiing... but

honestly, I'm not a radical athlete.


Hay pilotos que tienen alguna manía antes

de subirse a la moto o al coche ¿tienes tu

alguna manía antes de subirte a la moto?

¿Cuál es esa manía?

No tengo manías. Simplemente respiro hondo y pido a los dioses (a

mis seres queridos que ya no están) que me protejan en el camino.

I have no manias. I just take a deep breath and ask the gods (my loved ones who

are gone) to protect me along the way.


¿Llevas algún amuleto para que te de suerte?

No creo en esas cosas, aunque a veces me han regalado amuletos y cosas

partidas y las he llevado conmigo sin problema.

Do you bring any amulets to make

youlucky?

I do not believe in those things, although sometimes they have given me

amulets and things and I have taken them with me without problem.

¿Cómo nos describirías tus viajes en

general?

Son viajes largos e intensos en los que aprender mucho sobre la cultura, gastronomía,

arquitectura, religión y forma de ser de un pueblo. Son viajes solidarios en los que

siempre hay ayuda para alguien. Viajes en los que llamo la atención sobre las

diferencias tan maravillosas entre culturas y si es necesario, la manera de ayudar a

determinadas personas. Son viajes llenos de paisajes y aventura.

How would you describe your travels in

general?

They are long and intense trips in which to learn a lot about the culture, gastronomy,

architecture, religion, and way of being of a people. They are solidarity trips in which

there is always help for someone. Trips in which I draw attention to the wonderful

differences between cultures and if necessary, how to help certain people. They are

trips full of landscapes and adventure.




¿Te gustan los deportes de motor?

¡¡Me encantan!! mi padre es piloto y yo corrí durante dos

años en varias

carreras de turismos.

Do you like motorsports?

I love them!! my father is a pilot, and I ran for

two years in several touring car races.

¿Qué piloto o pilotos te han

llamado siempre la

atención? ¿Por qué?

"Correcaminos" Jaime Sornosa, mi padre. Es el

piloto con que he aprendido tanto a competir,

como determinados valores sobre el asfalto. Es

una de las mejores manos de España, ganó cada

campeonato en el que participó, ha sido

Campeón de España de todas las modalidades...

¡quién mejor que él para llamar mi atención!!

Which pilot or pilots have

always caught your

attention? Why?

" Correcaminos" Jaime Sornosa, my father. He

is the driver with whom I have learned both to

compete, and certain values on the asphalt. He

is one of the best hands in Spain, he won every

championship in which he participated, he has

been Champion of Spain of all modalities ...

who better than him to get my attention!

¿Qué piensas que es lo

más duro de ir en moto?

Las largas horas en línea recta para cubrir

distancias que a veces no

queda más remedio que cubrir de un tirón. Me

mata estar horas y horas

sin ver nada interesante.

What do you think is the hardest thing about riding a

motorcycle?

the long hours in a straight line to cover distances that sometimes knocks out more than to cover in one go. It

kills me to spend hours and hours without seeing anything interesting.

¿Crees que un piloto, para estar en lo más alto, no es suficiente con ser bueno

si no tiene dinero o algún padrino?

Creo que hace más de 30 años, quizás ser solo bueno serviría...pero al final alguien ha de fijarse en tí. Sin

patrocinios no hay carrera y en principio estos se encuentran siendo mejor que los demás...pero un buen

piloto sin un buen apoyo económico hoy en día no es nadie, no sobresaldrá y nadie le verá.

Do you think that a pilot,

to be at the top, ¿is not

enough to be good if he

sponsor?

I think more than 30 years ago,

maybe being just good would do...

but in the end someone must look

at you. Without sponsorships there

is no race and in principle these are

being better than the others ... but a

good pilot without good financial

support today is nobody, he will not

stand out and no one will see him.

vela, eso o seguir con lo que

hacía, mi carrera como periodista

especializada en motor.

what would you have

liked to do?

I really wanted to go around the

world in a sailing boat, that or

continue with what I did, my

career as a journalist specializing

in motoring.


¿Consideras suficientes las medidas de

seguridad que hay en los deportes de

motor o conoces alguna más que

debería implantarse?

Creo que hoy en día se corre con todas las garantías de

seguridad. Nada más que añadir.

¿Qué opinión tienen tus amigos y

familiares sobre tus viajes?

Tienen una opinión muy buena, les gusta mucho los

viajes que hago, me siguen y apoyan siempre.

Do you consider the safety measures

that exist in motorsport sufficient, or

do you know any more that should be

implemented?

I believe that today we run with all the guarantees of

security. Nothing more to add.

What do your friends and family

think about your travels?

They have a very good opinion, they really like

the trips I make, they follow me and always

support me.

¿Animarías a tus hijos a practicar

deportes de motor?

Si los tuviera, seguro que estaban ya dando

vueltas en un karting. Me he criado en el circuito

del Jarama y viendo Rallys los fines de semana,

cuando corría mi padre...¡¡imagina como llevo en

las venas el mundo de la competición!!

Would you encourage your children to

play motorsports?

If I had them, surely, they were already going around

in a karting. I grew up on the Jarama circuit and

watching Rallys on the weekends, when my father

was racing... imagine how I carry the world of

competition in my veins!!


¿Te gustaría agradecer a alguna persona o

personas que te ayudaron en momentos

difíciles?

Desde mi familia y amigos, que me han escuchado llorar por teléfono más de una vez

durante a vuelta al mundo, como a los patrocinadores que cada año me apoyan; Ducati

España, Bhir, Pirelli...

From my family and friends, who have heard me cry on the phone more than once while

¿Hasta dónde te gustaría llegar con tu moto?

Hasta el fin del mundo no, ya lo hice en el 2013 (Ushuaia, Argentina), en serio, me encantaría llegar a ser un

referente para futuras generaciones de moto-viajeras. Me gustaría que se me tuviera en cuenta y aprovechara mi

experiencia.

How far would you like to go with your bike?

Not until the end of the world, I already did it in 2013 (Ushuaia, Argentina), seriously, I would love to become a

reference for future generations of motorcycle travelers. I would like to be considered and take advantage of my

experience.


¿Cuáles son ahora tus principales objetivos en

la vida?

En mi vida: vivirla con lo imprescindible, para no dejar nada cuando ya no esté aquí. Conseguir trasladar

mi experiencia a otros a través de las diferentes plataformas de comunicación, dirigir un programa de

viajes...¡¡tengo mucha objetivos!! El de este año de covid es sobrevivir (como no se puede viajar, mi

principal medio de trabajo está parado)

¿y en tus viajes? En moto mi objetivo es conocer todo lo posible, lo que me queda

del mundo.

In my life: to live it with the essentials, so as not to leave anything when I am no longer here. Getting to

transfer my experience to others through the different communication platforms, directing a travel program ... I

¿Crees que las mujeres son discriminadas en los

deportes de motor?

No lo creo, lo se que lo he vivido y veo cómo es el panorama actual. NO es una discriminación en cuanto a el

resto de los pilotos, es mucho más sutil...desde la educación de pequeñas, ahí empieza la discriminación.

Luego esta sociedad que aún es muy machista resta oportunidades a cualquier chica que piense en un futuro

en la competición, tendrá que sacrificar muchas más cosas personales que un hombre.

¿Qué harías para solucionarlo?

Para solucionarlo daría más visibilidad a las mujeres que compiten, a las que son directoras de equipo,

mecánicas...a todas en general, que se viese que existen. es la única mera de que las generaciones venideras

tengan ejemplos de lo que pueden llegar a conseguir y suelen con ello. Sin sueños, no hay hechos.

Do you think women are discriminated against in

motorsports?

I don't think so, I know what I've experienced, and I see what the current panorama is like. NOes a discrimination

in terms of the rest of the pilots, it is much more useful ... from the education of little girls, that's where

discrimination begins. Then this society that is still very macho subtracts opportunities for any girl who thinks

about a future in the competition, will have to desacrify many more personal things than a man.

What would you do to fix it?

To solve it, I would give more visibility to the women who compete, to those who are team managers, mechanics...

to all in general, that it was seen that they exist. it is the only mere that future generations have examples of what

they can achieve and usually with it. Without dreams, there are no facts.
