Exemplaire de la bibliothèque de A. Baron archiviste d’Etat de
Vaud (à Lausanne). Avec ses remarques et corrections faite en
1863 , agé d’environ 75 ans. Cette nouvelle édition est enfait la
quatrième édition et entièrement refondue “et plus exacte que
les précédentes” (Quérard), première édition in-4°, la plus
recherchée, avec les 81 gravures et cartes d’après Merian.
Compilation des ouvrages de l’ambassadeur d’Angleterre en
Suisse (1705-1713) Abraham Stanyan «Account of Switzerland»
(Londres, 1714) et «Les délices de la Suisse» (Amsterdam, 1714)
par Ruchat, le premier des historiens vaudois, cette belle
publication illustrée parut pour la première en 1730, et connut
un vif succès durant tout le XVIIIe siècle et une partie du siècle
suivant, au moment où la vogue du tourisme multiplia les
ouvrages géographiques de qualité sur la Suisse. Baron, grand
