3) SAFETY OF THE COMPETING CREWS<br />

3.1 Safety Services<br />

3.1.1 At the start of each special stage :<br />

* 1 fast intervention vehicle with a doctor specialised in resuscitation. (Sign : REA / FIV)<br />

* 2 ambulances and their equipment<br />

* 1 rescue team (Sign : Securité Public AMSAR)<br />

* 1 breakdown vehicle<br />

* 1 fire-fighting service, hydraulic extrication equipment, suitable communications equipment<br />

3.1.2 At intermediary points on the route for long stages (more than 15 km):<br />

* 1 ambulance and its equipment<br />

* 1 fast intervention vehicle with a doctor specialised in resuscitation. (Sign : REA / FIV)<br />

* 1 rescue team<br />

* 1 breakdown vehicle<br />

3.2 Preventative Measures (Signalling and road markings)<br />

3.2.1 Roads and access roads leading to stages must be closed to traffic.<br />

3.2.2 The opening cars will verify the installation of the organization and will inform immediately<br />

the HQ of the rally of any omission that will be corrected before the beginning of the special<br />

stage.<br />

3.2.3 Marshals' posts will be positioned along the course so as to:<br />

- keep the public outside prohibited areas by means of boards, barriers or ropes, whistles<br />

and loud-speakers<br />

- as far as possible, warn crews of any obstructions in the special stage, by the use of yellow<br />

flags.<br />

3.2.4 Use of the yellow flag (FIA appendix H)<br />

3.3 Supervision<br />

3.3.1 A radio network (set up at the most every 5 km - 6 to 25 radio points depending of the<br />

length of the stage) unique to each special stage, must be established to allow the vehicles<br />

to be tracked and the running of the rally to be supervised.<br />

3.3.2 Each radio point shall be identified in the road book and by a sign on the road, bearing the<br />

radio point symbol.<br />

3.3.3 In addition there shall be a warning sign 100 m prior to the SOS radio points.<br />

3.3.4 Any ambulance within a stage should be located at a radio point. An additional sign (white<br />

cross on blue background) should be located beneath the radio point sign at this point.<br />

3.3.5 The tracking of vehicles will be undertaken both at the HQ of the rally and by the chief of<br />

security of the special stage.<br />

3.4 Roadbook (SOS RED/OK)<br />

The roadbook will contain a red SOS and a OK sign that will be at the disposal of the crews<br />

to signal the sequels of an accident. The rules for the use of these signs will figure in the<br />

instructions given out to the competitors before the start of the rally.<br />

3.5 Evacuation<br />

3.5.1 An evacuation itinerary is planned for each special stage.<br />

3.5.2 Emergency services of all hospitals near the route will be on standby.<br />

3.5.3 A security helicopter of the organization will be present on the course. The two helicopters<br />

of the Protection Civile will be on alert and will also be able to intervene.<br />

4) PASSAGES BEFORE THE FIRST CAR :<br />

A - minus 75 minutes : "tricolore" car that verifies the installation of marshals and the<br />

security organization of each SS and renders account to the Clerk ot the Course about<br />

conditions of use of the roads for the race.<br />

B - minus 55 minutes : medical car with doctor on board for possible defection or delay of<br />

one of the doctors foreseen on SS<br />

C - minus 30 to minus 45 minutes: INFO cars, OBSERVER<br />

D - minus 10 to 20 minutes: 00 car. Last verification of the organization and the state of the<br />

road.<br />

E - minus 5 to minus 15 minutes: 0 car in Race conditions<br />

NB : All cars are equipped with radios in direct liaison with the clerk of the course. Missions of car<br />

INFO, 0 and 00 comprise a breakdown of the itinerary divided between several cars that allows the<br />

mission continuity even in case of an incident.<br />
