Instructions for Use:
1. Apply dressing directly over actively bleeding wound with tan
backing away from wound.
2. Apply pressure to the backing for 2 minutes, or longer if
required for dressing to adhere and bleeding to stop.
3. Apply outer bandage wrap (not included) to secure dressing
on wound site, if required.
4. If bandage fails to adhere; remove bandage, wipe wound with
gauze, apply new bandage.
5. Remove dressing within 48 hours with saline or sterile water.

Cautions / Warnings: Do not use if seal is broken and/or contents are wet. Do not apply
over eyes. Use promptly after opening. Contains chitosan from shellfish. For external use
only, do not implant. Not for consumption, do not eat. Single use only. Do not resterilize.
Seek Medical Attention: If bleeding does not stop or redness or swelling occurs. If you
suspect an allergic reaction. For severe wounds that have breeched the dermis to avoid
potential complications due to internal bleeding.
Description: The HemCon Bandage is a wound dressing manufactured from chitosan.
The HemCon Bandage, when applied directly to the wound, controls bleeding caused by
extreme trauma. The HemCon Bandage is an antibacterial barrier as demonstrated by
AATCC Test Method 100-2004, Evaluation of Antibacterial Finishes (Technical Manual
of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists) in laboratory testing with
Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia.
Intended Use / Indications: The HemCon Bandage is a hemostatic dressing for the
external, temporary control of severely bleeding wounds intended for emergency use. In
addition, the Hemcon Bandage also controls bleeding in patients following hemodialysis.
Storage Conditions: Best stored at room temperature.
