6 Maintenance by the user
Figure 23 6.5 Cleaning / descaling the water boiler
The water boiler 6 is a wearing part. To prolong its service life and for
best possible appliance performance we recommend using lime-free/distilled
water.
The use of tap water may limit its life. Use a commercially available filter
to treat hard tap water. Check the water boiler 6 for limescale deposits
and descale at regular intervals depending on the degree of water hardness,
as described below.
ENGLISH
The water boiler 6 contains small ceramic pieces 7. These ceramic
pieces 7 considerably delay the development of limescale. They must
therefore not be removed from the water boiler 6.
1WARNING
Danger of suffocation
The ceramic pieces 7 could be swallowed or inhaled by children:
• Do not remove the ceramic pieces 7 from the water boiler
6.
• Keep the water boiler 6 away from children.
We recommend that the remaining water be emptied from the water boiler
6 at the end of each working day and the water boiler 6 then be rinsed
out with cold water.
1. Comply with the safety instructions in “Section 6.1” page 70.
2. Push the lock of the cover 5 forwards.
➥ The cover 5 automatically opens upwards.
3. Open / unlock the water boiler 6 with the handle 1 and lift it out of
the compartment 2.
NOTICE
Damage to water boiler
• Do not immerse the water boiler 6 in water or other
liquids.
• Do not put the water boiler 6 in the dishwasher.
4. Clean the water boiler 6 outside with a moist (not wet) cloth.
5. Clean the seal surfaces in the compartment 2 with a moist (not wet)
cloth.
1WARNING
Caustic vapours
• Do not descale the water boiler 6 in the appliance.
Remove the water boiler from the appliance before descaling and then
proceed as follows:
6. Away from the appliance, fill the water boiler 6 with hot water, adding
a commercial descaling product:
• Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the descaling product.
• Leave the descaling solution to work for several hours.
• Repeat procedure if necessary.
7. Rinse the water boiler 6 thoroughly several times.
8. Clean / replace the seals 4 as described in “Section 6.7” page 74.
