Connection of photocells and safety devicesBefore connecting the photocells (or other devices) we advise you toselect the type of operation according to the movement area they haveto protect (see fig.3):Connection of an “edge” safety deviceClosingphotocellsOpening oropening/closingphotocellsENGLISHClosing photocells"Edge" safety devicesFig. 3• Opening safety devices: they operate only during the gate openingmovement and, therefore, they are suitable for protecting the areabetween the opening leaf and fixed obstacles (walls, etc) against therisk of impact and crushing.• Closing safety devices: they operate only during the gate closing movementand, therefore, they are suitable for protecting the closing areaagainst the risk of impact.• Opening/closing safety devices: they operate during the gate openingand closing movements and, therefore, they are suitable for protectingthe opening and closing areas against the risk of impact.• “Edge” safety devices: they operate during the gate opening and closingmovements and, therefore, they are suitable for protecting the areasbetween the moving leaf and fixed obstacles (pillars, walls, etc) againstthe risk of shearing and dragging.• Encoder (optional): operates during the gate opening and closing movementsand, therefore, it is suitable for protecting the opening and closingarea against the risk of impact, crushing, shearing and dragging.If two or more safety devices have the same function (opening, closing,opening and closing, edge), the contacts must be connected to eachother in series (fig. 4).
