REGIONAL PROGRAMFor many years, the Foundation has wished to extend its reach beyond the Boston-New York-Washington corridor toestablish a presence in some of the other great cities in what the French call l’Amérique profonde. This long-standing desireis now coming to fruition. In March 2004, Ambassador Jean-David Levitte most generously gave us a full day toparticipate in a program in Denver. This program consisted of visits and talks from breakfast into the late hours of theevening, organized by FAF Board member Doug Price, that included aspeech before 150 members of the Denver Forum and a seven-course dinnerat the elegant Adega restaurant in the presence of Mayor Hickenlooperand former Governor Lamm. In October 2004, we took former Minister ofDefense (and former FAF Young Leader) Alain Richard on a speaking tourthat included two stops in Denver (again, the Denver Forum and a moreintimate dinner at the Adega) and three speeches in Houston, including ata well-attended Houston World Affairs Council luncheon, and at a lovelydinner for 24 leading citizens of Houston at the home of Consul GeneralDenis Simonneau. Minister Richard was brilliant and very well-received inboth cities. We intend to follow Ambassador Levitte’s and MinisterRichard’s successful visits with a full program of events in 2005.FAF ANNUAL REPORT 2003-2004Depuis longtemps, la Fondation a voulu étendre le cadre de ses activitésAmbassador Jean-David Levittehors du couloir Boston-New York-Washington, afin d’établir une présencedans certaines des grandes villes de ce que nous appellons l’Amérique profonde.Ce souhait est enfin devenu une réalité. En mars 2004, l’Ambassadeur Jean-David Levitte nous a généreusementconsacré une journée entière à Denver, au Colorado, où il a participé, depuis le petit-déjeuner aux heures tardivesde la soirée, à un long programme de conférences et rendez-vous, organisé par Doug Price, membre du conseild’administration de la FAF, et qui comprenait un discours devant les 150 membres du Denver Forum, ainsi qu’unélégant dîner servi par le restaurant Adega, en présence du maire de Denver, M. Hickenlooper, et de M. Lamm, anciengouverneur du Colorado. En Octobre 2004, Alain Richard, ancien Ministre de la défense (et ancien Young Leader), s’estengagé pour une “visite officielle” au nom de la Fondation, avec deux discours prononcés à Denver (encore une fois,devant le Denver Forum, et au coursd’un dîner plus intime au restaurantAdega), ainsi que trois discours àHouston, notamment pendant un déjeunertrès prisé au Houston WorldAffairs Council et au cours d’un beaudîner dans la résidence du ConsulGénéral de France, Denis Simonneau,pour les 24 citoyens de Houston lesplus importants. Les discours de M.Richard ont été brillants et bien reçusdans les deux villes.
