En 2004, nous avons cherché à faciliter, de ce côté de l'Atlantique,la compréhension de l'évolution internationale, et nous avons proposé à ceux qui participentà nos manifestations un suivi attentif de la campagne électorale américaine.Nous avons aussi continué à multiplier les contacts entre personnes des deux pays sur dessujets économiques, sociaux et de société : finances et société, le rôle des femmes dansl'économie, l'organisation de la recherche...Ainsi, la French-American Foundation-Comité Français est plus que jamais le partenaire deceux qui souhaitent voir progresser et enrichir la connaissance mutuelle entre les deux pays,par delà les interrogations ou divergences stratégiques.LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMANIn these times when French-American relations are troubled by intense political and diplomaticdisagreement, the French American Foundation-Comité Français feels that its mission is ofparticular importance. In 2004, we tried to facilitate on this side of the Atlantic an understandingof international changes and offered to those who take part in our events a detailed long-termanalysis of the American electoral campaign.We also continued to further contacts between people from both countries on economic and culturalissues through our programs on finance and society, on the role of women in the economy,and on research and innovation in both countries….FAF ANNUAL REPORT 2003-2004Thus the French-American Foundation-Comité Français remains more than ever the partner ofthose who seek to move beyond strategic questions or divergences in order to foster mutualunderstanding between our two countries.42
