En effet, le Professeur D. John FAULKNER, est décédé' le23 Novembre dernier, à l'hôpital Thornton de La Jolla, Câlifornie' des suites de complications lors d'une op&ation du cceur. Ilavait 60 ans. Avec cet éminent scientifique, disparaît I'un des "Pionniers de la Chimie des Produiß Marins"N¿ en Anglererre, à Bournemourh, le l0 Juin 1942, il avait suivi ses études et obtenu sofl doctorat à l'Imperial Collegede Londres, en l9ó5, puis effectué un postdoctorat dans les Universités d'Harvard et de Stanford avant de rejoindre, en 1968'I'Institut OcéanÕgraphique du Scripps. Ses travaux sur l'analyse des produits d'origine marine et l'étud€ de leurs propriétésbiologiques et phãrmacólogiques màiqueront ce domaine.
