Commissionaires Ottawa embraces new era of software technology
QHR application offers Human
Resources expanded capabilities
On 4 November 2005, over two years of hard work paid off
when Commissionaires Ottawa signed an agreement to obtain
the rights to specialized software that will support and enhance
the Human Resources department’s ongoing focus on
employees. The application, called Quadrant HR, is used
extensively in the Canadian health care sector. In addition to
typical HR database functions, the software provides full
capabilities in position control, scheduling, time reporting, and
recruiting.
Howard Weingarden, who helped us define our
requirements and select the software, has remained at HQ to
develop an implementation plan designed to take us through
the many steps to full start-up. We plan to go live with the
software by 1 April 2006.

New on-line service available
to benefits plan members
Desjardins Financial Security has launched a new
24/7 service that allows you to view your health and
dental claims on-line. The service also allows you to:
• print pre-completed forms so you can submit your
claims for health or dental benefits
• quickly access your payment stubs for tax purposes
• view your health claims history (e.g. prescriptions,
medical services, vision care, dental care)
• view your Health Spending Account, if this service is
included in your plan
• view your dental predeterminations

and Businesses section. The first time you visit the site,
you will need to register. Have your insurance
certificate handy because it has the group and certificate
numbers you’ll need to get started. On the identification
page, click “To Register” and follow three easy steps.
