Caritas Tanzania embarks
on SDGs Operationalization
Caritas Tanzania conducted a
training on sustainable development
goals (SDGs) for its
diocesan Caritas directors and Gender
and Development coordinators during
its annual general meeting in January
2016; its aim was to let such stakeholders
‘hit the ground running’ when
it comes to implementing the SDGs.

consultative period and even in the

little or no participation by members

The training facilitated by Samuel Zan
Akologo, the national director of
social development at the Ghana
national catholic secretariat of was
interactive. Specifically, it ran thus: a
list of expectations was drawn from
the participants’ response to the three
questions advanced to them and
thereafter that one of gap and expectations
was referred from the concept
application document and the two
were tallied against each other. After
a discussion on the history of SDGs
and their making, their contents were
discussed upon in detail in light of the
Laudato Si teaching.
Participants were then asked to set out
criteria for the prioritization of the goals.
These are criteria agreed upon, that such
a goal to address: poverty, ignorance,
disease, hunger, gender, environmental
protection, both diocesan and national
development priorities and church
teaching. From all these, the following
five goals, in order of priority, were
considered important: goals 5,1,2,4 and
3. And again specific actions on priority
SDGs were listed thus: strengthening
available facilities (goal 4); raising
proposal for funding (all goals);

The participants then agreed upon the
following steps to be taken: reporting

Au cours de son Assemblée Générale Annuelle en janvier 2016, Caritas Tanzanie
a organisé une formation sur les Objectifs de Développement Durable (ODD)
pour les directeurs des Caritas diocésaines et les coordonnateurs Genre et
Développement. La formation fut assurée par Samuel Zan Akologo, Directeur
de Caritas Ghana. Après avoir répondu à trois questions, les participants
établirent une liste des attentes et prirent conscience du fossé les séparant de
leurs attentes. Il y eut ensuite une discussion sur l'histoire des ODD, leur
élaboration et leur contenu à la lumière des enseignements de Laudato Si.

objectivos do desenvolvimento sustentável
Durante sua reunião geral anual de janeiro de 2016, Caritas Tanzânia organizou
um treinamento sobre os objectivos de desenvolvimento sustentável (ímpar)
para diretores da Cáritas Diocesanas e os coordenadores de gênero e
desenvolvimento. O treinamento foi fornecido por Samuel Zan Akologo, diretor
da Caritas Gana. Depois de responder a três perguntas, os participantes
estabeleceram uma lista de expectativas e tomou consciência do fosso separandoos
de suas expectativas. Seguiu-se uma discussão sobre a história da estranha,
sua preparação e seu conteúdo à luz dos ensinamentos de Laudato Si.
