For our third walk in Paris this year, we have an appointment
with William, who proposes to explore the south-east of
Paris. We set out from the terrace of the Café Français, a
brasserie decorated by the interior designer India Mahdavi
who blends materials and plays with the colours of the
national flag.
William presents one of his favourite walks: “The
main points of this itinerary are the Arsenal Port,
the Rue Crémieux, the planted promenade, the
Parc de Bercy as well as the Simone de Beauvoir
footbridge, and to finish, the village of Bercy”.

Pour notre troisième promenade dans Paris cette année,
nous avons rendez-vous avec William qui nous propose
d’explorer le Sud-Est parisien. Nous le retrouvons sur
la terrasse du Café Français, une brasserie décorée par
l’architecte d’intérieur India Mahdavi qui mélange les
matières et joue avec les couleurs du drapeau
national.
William nous présente une de ses ballades
préférées : “les points principaux de cet itinéraire
sont le Port de l’Arsenal, la rue Crémieux, la
promenade plantée, le parc de Bercy ainsi que
la passerelle Simone de Beauvoir et pour finir le
village de Bercy”.
We leave for the Arsenal port that connects the
Canal Saint Martin to the Seine. "This was dug after
the destruction of the Bastille in 1789 to replace the
moat of the fortress," says William. We then take
the Rue Crémieux and join the planted promenade,
dotted with gardens, viaducts and tunnels. We then
stop at the Bercy skate park, a real exhibition of
street art, before joining the Simone de Beauvoir
bridge, which offers a breath-taking view of this part of the
Seine.
We stop at the Parc de Bercy with its potager, orchard and
orangery. We stroll through the romantic garden and enjoy a
refreshing landscape made up of ponds that lead to a small
lake with a central island.
Finally, we arrive at the Village of Bercy and cannot resist
buying an assortment of macaroons at the famous Eric Kayser
bakery before moving to the terrace of “The Frog” pub, an
establishment with an English micro-brewery, which produces
10-thousand pints of six original artisan beers per week.

Nous voici donc partis pour le port de l’Arsenal
qui relie le Canal Saint Martin à la Seine. “Ce
bassin a été creusé après la destruction de la
Bastille en 1789 pour remplacer les douves
de la forteresse” nous précise William. Nous
empruntons ensuite la rue Crémieux et rejoignons
la Promenade Plantée, jalonnée de jardins, de
viaducs et de tunnels. Nous nous arrêtons ensuite
au Skate Parc de Bercy, véritable exposition de street art,
avant de rejoindre la Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir qui
offre une vue imprenable sur cette partie de la Seine.
Nous arrivons enfin au Parc de Bercy avec son potager,
son verger et son orangerie. Nous déambulons dans son
jardin romantique et profitons d’un paysage rafraîchissant
composé de bassins qui mènent à un petit lac et son île.
Nous arrivons enfin au Village de Bercy et ne pouvons
résister à acheter un assortiment de macarons dans la
fameuse boulangerie Eric Kayser avant de nous installer à la
terrasse du pub The Frog, un établissement disposant d’une
micro-brasserie anglaise qui produit 10 000 pintes de six
bières artisanales originales par semaine.
