The land of 1 000 ponds and giants

The Brenne nature park stretches across the southwest

of the region. Here, sky and water mingle to offer

you an unspoilt setting in which many endangered

species have made a home for themselves. Following

the Great loop of the Brenne ponds, you will encounter

meadows, woods and moors, as well as the typical

hillocks bordering the ponds – small sandstone

humps that are supposed to have been created by

the muddy boots of the giant Gargantua. Maybe you'll

come across a fairy, since legend has it that they've

made this magical land the place where they come

out to play.
