Port-Grimaud fut conçu par l'architecte alsacien
François Spoerry (1912-1999) qui s'inspira du patrimoine
méditerranéen pour concilier l'art de vivre
provençal et les procédés de construction les plus
modernes. Aujourd'hui, c'est 7 km de canaux et 12 km
de quais qui forment Port-Grimaud, soit un ensemble
de 90 hectares qui accueille chaque année environ
500 000 visiteurs. Pas une maison ne ressemble à
une autre et chaque couleur de façade et volets a été
répertoriée afin de conserver les tonalités d'origine
lors des travaux d'entretien.
Port-Grimaud was designed by the Alsatian architect
François Spoerry (1912-1999), who drew his inspiration
from the Mediterranean heritage to reconcile the Provençal
art of living with the most modern construction
methods. Today, there are 7 km of canals and 12 km of
quays in Port-Grimaud, covering 90 hectares all told,
an area that welcomes some 500,000 visitors each
year. No one house is like another, and the colour of
every façade and shutter has been listed so as to preserve
the original tones during maintenance work.
