By: Nurfazlina Binti Haris
The OSYS TALENT SHOW 2016 with many talented artistes
among UiTM students captured the hearts of more
than 200 visitors including outsiders at UiTM campus
Samarahan 1, Youth floor on 11 October 2016. The show was
successfully organised by the undergraduates of Office System
Management under the Office System Society (OSYS). Due to
the overwhelming response, participation in OSYS Talent
Show 2016 was extended to students from all faculties in
UiTM Sarawak. The participants demonstrated their talents
including singing, dancing, playing instrumentals, taking part in
stand-up comedy, poetry and so on. The event’s main objective
was to strengthen the bond between faculties, students,
lecturers, staff and the public. The organisers of OSYS believe
that a healthy institution results from the togetherness of the
whole campus. Besides, the event was to find talented students
to inspire others and to become good role models.
The talent show, participated by 10 students, consisted of
6 solo competitors and 3 acoustic bands. They were judged by
experienced entertainers who had participated in a number
of talent competitions. One of the judges was Raja Firdaus
Raja Aziz, a talented singer, who was invited to perform at the
previous UiTM Sarawak 81’s convocation ceremony. The rest of
the judges were Hanis Ahmad Zaki Ahmad Zulkipli, a member
of VanThrillaQuist Crew who was the 1 st runner up in the “All
Style Battle “Rock Em’ Right 2016’s dance competition held on
19 March 2016. Lastly was Asil Hamzi Ayauf, a young talented
artiste in UiTM Sarawak, who also was featured in a song for
the Post-Modern Luna project in Lima, Peru.
The OSYS committee appreciates the great support
from Madam Noor Shima Antony as Ketua Pusat Pengajian,
Faculty of Office System and Technology Management at
that time. She was present at the closing and prize giving
ceremony. The OSYS committee members were also grateful
for the support of our lecturers, Ms. Nurfazlina Haris, Mrs.
Leviana Andrew, Mrs. Siti Fatimah Abdul Latiff, Mr. Muhammad
Omar and his wife. Mr. Muhammad Omar gave a wonderful
special performance with his Chinese song entitled “wei yi
se cai” – The only color. Last but not least, special thanks go
to Mr. Habiel Zakariah, for advising the club
After a great performance from all the participants, all
the winners received a trophy, cash and a certificate. The
ANYBODY CAN DANCE (ABCD)
STREET COMPETITION 2016
By: Frannelya Francis
NUSAS (Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences) is not just about nursing and its services. Hence,
on 16 August 2016, NUSAS was back with a challenge of doing something different - organizing a dance
competition. This competition, which was held at Dewan Jubli, Samarahan 1 Campus, aimed to sharpen
students’ leadership skills and strengthen the bond between nursing students and lecturers. The competition
started with a dance gimmick performed by the organizer. Six groups competed and were evaluated by three
invited judges. The first to third winners brought back trophies, mock cheques and certificates. Meanwhile, the
consolation prize winners took home hampers and certificates. All prizes were given away by Miss Norazlin
Abdullah, the Faculty’s Ketua Pusat Pengajian. This event had successfully provided valuable lessons for the
nursing students, particularly in handling ticketing, arranging and sourcing suitable music, publicizing, and
staging. The event had attracted a large crowd of students from both campuses. Thank you for supporting the
ABCD Street Competition 2016!
