Lo specchio trasparente 

Cari amici del People, farei una 

considerazione iniziale: vi siete mai 

chiesti quanti modi ci sono di vedere 

le cose? Tanti! La vita ti propone 

sapori diversi che a volte non 

t’aspetti, dunque devi andare in 

profondità per capire meglio. Già, 

tutto dipende dalla prospettiva con 

la quale osservi il mondo che ti circonda. 

Guardare sempre avanti 

“alla via così” o voltarsi per gustare 

le miglia fatte? Un’alchimia bella ed 

affascinante tanto quanto il mondo 

Primatist. Un universo che ci piace 

condividere grazie a questo People. 

Allora ben ritrovati all’appuntamento 

estivo che come ogni anno ci 

porta dritto al Trophy ed a scoprire 

le ultime novità. Il nostro magazine, 

nel quale riponiamo tante energie 

sforzandoci di darvi sempre di più, 

rappresenta una bella opportunità 

d’interazione. Ci dà la carica per 

fare sempre meglio, inoltre, sapere 

che gradite quest’iniziativa editoriale. 

L’altra sera mi chiedevo: ma 

il Trophy è giovane o è adulto? Ed 

ecco che il discorso della prospettiva 

ritorna… Di certo 18 anni rappresentano 

la maturità, vale a dire una 

macchina organizzativa altamente 

professionale ed un importante impatto 

media. Non è un caso che 

anche quest’anno si respiri un’atmosfera 

internazionale con equipaggi 

provenienti da diversi Paesi pronti 

a stare assieme all’insegna di una 

comune passione in una tre giorni di 

Bruno Abbate all’interno 

del Museo Nautico Guido Abbate.

gare e non solo. Un evento, il nostro, 

che ci invidiano un po’ tutti per il suo 

DNA positivo e per le emozioni che 

regala ai partecipanti… Dunque Ladies 

(tante…) and Gentlemen “Start 

Your Engines”. Nei giorni seguenti al 

Trophy ci sarà un altro momento da 

incorniciare, vale a dire la presentazione 

ufficiale del nuovo G53’ Pininfarina. 

Una giornata che abbiamo 

voluto definire “Unveiling Day” 

prendendo spunto da un evento di 

portata mondiale come l’America’s 

Cup dove l’Unveiling è il momento 

clou, quello iniziale destinato agli 

appassionati più competenti che 

amano scoprire la tecnologia e le 

capacità progettuali degli staff più 

competenti. Il G53’ Pininfarina è stato 

pensato e fortemente voluto per 

rispondere alle nuove esigenze di 

armatori che desiderano navigare 

a “sei stelle” assaporando il gusto 

di uno yacht non impegnativo che 

emoziona per le sue linee, per i suoi 

interni e per le soluzioni tecniche innovative. 

Una nuova sfida insomma 

che ha tutti i presupposti per essere 

vincente come il G41’ATE e come 

il G46’ Pininfarina. Il G53’ è uno degli 

ultimi nati di Arbatax che, come 

leggerete nelle pagine del People, 

sta acquisendo un peso specifico 

sempre più importante nella nostra 

dimensione aziendale. Parlando di 

Arbatax vorrei ringraziare Luca 

Glisenti, Paolo Pintus, Beppe Sommariva, 

Giorgio Tognoli, Michele 

Vanoli e Gianfranco Zanoni per l’impegno 

dimostrato e l’attaccamento 

all’azienda. Un grazie di cuore va 

anche all’intero gruppo di lavoro 

di Grandola ed Uniti sempre compatto 

e che, questa volta più che 

mai, ha dimostrato il suo affetto e 

la sua vicinanza nei confronti della 

sua famiglia. Tra curiosità, notizie sui 

dealer, eventi e sport nel People troverete 

anche due pagine dedicate 

alla Tower a Dubai che porterà il nostro 

nome nell’ambito del progetto 

Legend. Per fortuna in questi giorni 

fa molto caldo perché vengono un 

po’ i brividi a pensare quanta strada 

è stata percorsa. Una Torre col 

nome Abbate a Dubai… semplicemente 

emozionante. E visto che 

parliamo di emozioni volevo dirvi 

che ci siamo commossi eccome 

quando ad Arbatax sono stati varati 

i primi due modelli interamente

prodotti in Sardegna. Quante cose 

succedono… così penso a quanto 

sia unico guardare avanti ed esplorare 

l’orizzonte per individuare nuovi 

obiettivi. Ma farlo rimanendo con i 

piedi per terra ad una sola condizione: 

se ti guardi anche dietro e magari 

vedi 60 anni di storia, di tradizione, 

di forza di volontà e di sacrifici. 

Allora visto che il dilemma continua 

ho trovato la soluzione! Immaginate 

uno specchio trasparente... Uno 

specchio trasparente? Ma cos’è? 

Un’altra follia del Bruno? No, è uno 

stato d’animo che ti consente di 

guardare sempre avanti, ma che 

nello stesso tempo ti lascia anche 

intravedere cosa stai lasciando alle 

spalle. Sinceramente penso che 

nessuno riuscirà mai a realizzarlo fisicamente, 

ma con il pensiero e con 

il cuore ognuno può avere il proprio 

specchio trasparente davanti ai 

suoi occhi. Spero vi piaccia sapere 

che nello specchio trasparente 

mio e di Nicoletta si vede una flotta 

Primatist che continua a navigare 

verso l’orizzonte e due occhi di un 

bimbo che la osservano. È lo sguardo 

di un secondo Guidino Abbate 

che seguono la scia… Sarà il figlio 

di Cinzia e Marco che aspettiamo 

con impazienza per scoprire di quale 

colore saranno quegli occhi che 

rifletteranno ancora la nostra storia.

The transparent mirror 

Dear People’s friends, I would like 

to make a premise: have you ever 

wondered how many ways to see 

things there are? Infinite ways! Life 

offers you different flavours that sometimes 

you don’t expect to taste, 

so you have to go deeper to better 

understand them. Of course, everything 

depends on the perspective 

from which you observe the surrounding 

world. Is it better to always look 

ahead or should we turn to relish 

past miles? An alchemy as beautiful 

and fascinating as Primatist world. 

A universe that we like to share with 

you through this People. So, welcome 

back to our summer meeting 

that, as each year, bring us to the 

Trophy and help us in discovering 

all the last news. Our magazine, in 

which we put much energy always 

trying to give you something more, 

represents a good interaction opportunity. 

The fact you like this publication, 

gives us a boost to always 

give our best. The day before yesterday 

I was asking myself: is the Primatist 

Trophy young or adult? And the 

perspective issue comes back… 18 

years surely represent maturity and 

they mean a high professional organization 

machine and an important 

media impact (try to compare 

it with other nautical events…). It is 

not by chance that even this year 

an international atmosphere is already 

in the air with many foreigner 

crews that, aimed by the same pas- 

sion, are ready to stay together not 

only for the three-days-races. This 

is an event that everybody envies 

us for its positive DNA and for emotions 

it gives to participants… Ladies 

and Gentlemen, Start your engines. 

After the Trophy, there will be another 

moment to remember: the official 

presentation of new G53’ Pininfarina. 

A day we dare to define 

“Unveiling Day”, from an important 

event such as America’s Cup, where 

it represents the beginning moment 

addressed to most competent 

people who want to discover 

technologies and designing skills of 

different teams. G53’ Pininfarina has 

been thought and strongly desired 

to meet the needs of people that 

want a “six stars” sailing, tasting the 

flavour of an undemanding yacht 

which excites with its lines, its interior 

design and its new technical solu-

tions. A new challenge which has 

all the premises to be successful, as 

in the cases of G41’ATE and G46’ 

Pininfarina. G53’ Pininfarina is the 

newborn in Arbatax which, as you 

can read in this People, is increasing 

its specific gravity in our enterprise 

dimension. Speaking about 

Arbatax, I would like to thank Luca 

Glisenti, Paolo Pintus, Beppe Sommariva, 

Giorgio Tognoli, Michele 

Vanoli and Gianfranco Zanoni for 

their commitment and affection 

to the company. Many thanks also 

to Grandola staff which is always 

compact. Among curiosities, dealer 

news, events and sport, in this 

People you can also find two pages 

dedicated to Dubai Legend Towers 

that will bear our name. Thinking on 

all the achieved successes gives 

us the shivers. An Abbate tower in 

Dubai… simply exciting. Speaking 

about emotions, I would like to tell 

you our feelings in launching the first 

two boats completely produced 

in Arbatax. Many things happen… 

and it is unique when you look ahead 

exploring the horizon to find new 

objectives. But it is important to do it 

down to earth, even if looking back 

you see a 60-years history full of tradition, 

willing and sacrifices. The dilemma 

continues, but I have found 

a solution! Imagine a transparent 

mirror… a transparent mirror? What 

is this? A new Bruno’s craziness? 

No, it’s a mood which allows you to 

always look ahead, but in the meanwhile 

lets you perceive what you 

are leaving behind. I sincerely think 

nobody will ever be able to physically 

create it, but with heart and 

mind each one can have his own 

transparent mirror before his eyes. 

I hope that you will be pleased to 

know that in Nicoletta’s and my 

transparent mirror, there is a Primatist 

fleet sailing toward horizon under 

the eyes of a child. It is another Guidino 

Abbate’s glance following the 

wake… he is Cinzia’s and Marco’s 

son that we are expecting with impatience, 

because we are waiting 

to discover the colour of those eyes 

which will continue to reflect our history.

L’arte del muoversi 

Chi non ha mai notato uno yacht 

trasportato su grandi camion viaggiare 

sull’asfalto scortato da vetture 

con tanto di lampeggianti accesi? 

Trasporti speciali, eccezionali e sempre 

difficili da organizzare perché 

frutto di mille autorizzazioni. Tra le 

aziende al top in questo tipo di servizi 

c’è la “Meroni Trasporti Nautici” di 

Paolo Meroni che ha sede a Brunate, 

in provincia di Como. La storia di 

quest’azienda è speciale perché legata 

a doppio filo a quella di Bruno 

Abbate e della Primatist. “Bruno è 

più di un fratello…” poche parole di 

Paolo che fanno la qualità e l’intensità 

del rapporto che lega il “mago” 

dei trasporti nautici a Bruno Abbate. 

“Praticamente ho iniziato con lui. 

Era il 1984 e mi occupavo dei trasporti 

delle sue barche che partecipavano 

ai campionati off-shore, 

ma trasportavo anche le prime barche 

prodotte. Portavamo i Primatist 

19’, 23’ e poi i 37’ praticamente 

ovunque. Le storie da raccontare 

sarebbero decine e decine; ricordo 

che Nicoletta mi affidava Guidino 

e Marco e li portavo fino sui campi 

di gara… Guidino dormiva sulla 

brandina inferiore mentre posizionavo 

Marco sul lettino in alto anche 

per le sue dimensioni un po’ rotondeggianti. 

Evitando qualche sosta 

supplementare, per mantenere la 

media capitava che ai bimbi facessi 

fare la pipì in una bottiglietta 

di Coca-Cola vuota… altri tempi!”. 

Le cose della vita cambiano, i colori 

mutano, ma l’anima delle persone 

che hanno un certo spessore 

rimane immutata. Marco oggi è un 

ottimo manager, mentre Paolo è titolare 

di un’azienda florida con 20 

camion ed altrettanti dipendenti. 

Le sfide possibili ed impossibili (tra 

queste, quella di trasportare grandi 

yacht sulle tortuose strade del lago) 

sono state vinte tutte… così l’asticella 

può essere posizionata sempre 

più in alto.

services there is “Meroni Nautical 

Transports” by Paolo Meroni, situated 

in Brunate, in the province of 

Como. The history of this company 

is special since it is strictly and firmly 

linked to that of Bruno Abbate and 

his Primatist. “Bruno is more than a 

brother…” only a few words by Paolo 

which stress the quality and intensity 

of the relationship that ties the 

magician of nautical transports to 

Bruno Abbate. “I practically started 

with him. It was 1984 and I dealt with 

the transportation of its boats participating 

to the off-shore championships, 

but I also transported the first 

boats produced. We transported 

the Primatist 19’, 23’ and also the 

37’ almost everywhere. We could 

tell hundred of stories; I remember 

that Nicoletta entrusted to me the

Guido slept on the lower camp bed 

while I put Marco on the upper bed 

also considering his quite round dimensions.

happened that children peed in an

Life changes, colours turn different, 

but the soul of people of a certain 

value stays the same. Today Marco 

is a perfect manager while Paolo is 

the Chairman of a prosperous Firm 

with 20 trucks and as many employees. 

Challenges, both possible and 

impossible (among which carrying 

big yachts on the winding roads of 

the lake) have all been won… so 

the gauge can be placed always 

further.

Quando percorri le strade che dal 

lago si inerpicano verso la Svizzera, 

si rimane senza parole perché il 

verde della montagna continua a 

specchiarsi nel blu del lago. In inverno 

c’è il bianco della neve e l’aria 

che si respira ha un sapore unico; 

qui c’è il Cantiere di Grandola ed 

Uniti (ca. 400 m. s.l.m.). Non poteva 

sorgere in un luogo diverso, a pochi

chilometri dal Cantiere di famiglia, 

ma soprattutto in Italia, visto che la 

produzione Primatist è da sempre 

espressione del Made in Italy. Una 

volontà precisa quella di Bruno e 

Marco Abbate: non è un caso infatti 

che tutti i Centri Produttivi si 

trovino sulla nostra penisola quando 

avrebbero potuto essere facilmente 

delocalizzati oltre confine. Nelle 

due realtà di Grandola ed Arbatax 

nasce così il 100% della produzione 

destinata a tutto il mercato internazionale. 

Grandola, in quest’ottica, 

rappresenta la tradizione, la forza 

degli uomini, l’esperienza… un cuore 

pulsante insomma che ha garantito 

all’azienda continuità e sviluppo 

e che oggi supporta Arbatax dove 

regnano i grandi numeri. Nelle diverse 

linee di lavorazione tecnici 

specializzati che operano su macchinari 

di ultima generazione e si 

prendono cura dello yacht in tutto il 

suo ciclo costruttivo, dalle fasi iniziali 

di posa della resina negli stampi sino 

alle ultime rifiniture che precedono 

la consegna della barca. Grandola 

rappresenta una sorta di “rampa di 

lancio” che dà energia e spunti a 

tutto il sistema industriale di Primatist. 

Un ruolo importante che compete 

a questo Centro proprio perché 

rappresenta l’anima storica che ha 

con sé tutta la forza e la passione 

di chi ama lavorare per Primatist.

On taking the roads, which from the 

Lake climb towards Switzerland, the 

green of the mountain’s reflection 

mirrored on the blue of the lake leaves 

one totally speechless. In winter 

there is the brilliant whiteness of 

snow and the air has a unique smell; 

here is the Grandola ed Uniti shipyard 

(around 400 m. above sea level). 

It would be impossible to imagine it 

anywhere else; just a few kilometres 

distant from the family’s Boatyard, 

but, moreover, in Italy because Primatist 

production has always been 

an example of Made in Italy. A decidedly 

important decision taken by 

Bruno and Marco Abbate: it is not 

by chance that all Productive Centres 

are to be found on our peninsular 

when it would have been easy 

to use locations abroad. From the 

two realities, Grandola and Arbatax 

have created a 100% production 

destined for the international 

market. Grandola in this respect 

represents traditions, the strength 

of men, experience… a pulsing heart 

which has brought continuation 

and development to the company 

and which today supports Arbatax 

where the great numbers reign. For 

the different lines there are specialised 

technicians who operate 

the latest machinery, who follow 

through the yacht’s entire building 

cycle, from the initial phases of resin 

moulding to the final finishing touches 

which precede consignment

La scelta di creare una struttura 

come quella di Arbatax è figlia di 

una precisa esigenza: ampliare le 

potenzialità produttive del Cantiere. 

Grazie ad una lunga ed approfondita 

fase progettuale, iniziata nel 

2002 dall’architetto Willem Brouwer, 

Arbatax è oggi in linea con gli standard 

internazionali della produzione 

nautica. Il cantiere è stato fortemente 

voluto da Bruno Abbate 

che con un’abnegazione unica ne 

ha seguito la realizzazione e ha tenuto 

duro quando qualche naturale 

intoppo ha rallentato il processo 

costruttivo. Un grande supporto è 

stato dato dall’Ing. Luca Galaffu 

che ha saputo tenere le fila dei lavori 

e dell’interazione con le risorse 

locali. Questa struttura che sorge 

nella zona industriale denominata

di Grandola ed Uniti, sul Lago di

“dialoga” anche con un’avveniristica 

fresa cinque assi di derivazione 

aeronautica (alta 3 m., lunga 15 

m. e larga 8 m.) che può spaziare 

nei suoi utilizzi passando dal taglio 

delle paratie in legno alla pulizia 

del manufatto, sino a supportare 

la fresatura di un modello di una 

barca in scala 1/1. Particolarmente 

funzionale l’anello per la distribuzione 

della resina ad alta portata 

che attinge da una cisterna a temperatura 

variabile per ottimizzare i 

processi di lavorazione. Rifinitura e 

lucidatura rappresentano i processi 

produttivi finali prima della consegna 

che viene fatta solo dopo tutti 

i controlli di qualità, anche in mare, 

nelle acque antistanti il Cantiere. 

La sicurezza è garantita da un moderno 

sistema di videosorveglianza, 

nel pieno rispetto Atex ed ISO.

The choice to create such a structure 

as Arbatax is the consequence 

of a precise need: widening the 

construction potentials of the yard. 

Thanks to a long and deep project 

phase started in 2002 by the Arch. 

Willem Brouwer, today Arbatax is in 

line with International standards of 

nautical production. The yard has 

been strongly supported by Bruno 

Abbate, who, with a unique abnegation, 

followed the realisation and 

stood fast when some natural problem 

slowed the building process. 

A great support was given by Eng. 

Luca Galaffu who was able to

with local resources. This 

structure, which rises in the industrial 

zone named Baccasara, supports 

the historic site of Grandola ed Uniti, 

on Como Lake, accomplishing 70% 

of Primatist production. The priority 

commitment of the Shipyard is focused 

on the construction of G41 ‘.2, 

G46’ and G53 ‘Pininfarina, but in the 

production phase has been included 

also the G62’ Special Edition. 

The productive sectors are 4: rolling, 

GRP handicrafts, body shell assembly 

and a line of development 

which is divided itself into various 

areas focusing on different models. 

A structure with such a profile 

counts on technique and design, 

an area where specialists in the field 

use latest generation computer programs, 

creating a source who also 

“dialogue” with a futuristic five axes 

bur of Aeronautics derivation (3 meters 

high, 15 m. long and 8 meters 

wide) which can range in its use 

from chopping wood bulkheads to 

cleaning of manufactured goods, 

up to support the milling of a model

a tanker to variable temperature 

to optimise manufacturing processes. 

Finishing and polishing are the 

final production processes before 

delivery that is made only after all 

the quality controls, even at sea in 

the waters in front of the Shipyard. 

Security is ensured by a modern 

system of video surveillance, in full 

compliance with Atex and ISO.

Arbatax Cantieri Nautici che ha iniziato 

la propria attività lo scorso settembre 

ha già dato alla luce i primi 

due yacht Primatist. Un fiammante 

G41’ AeroTop Evolution ed un G46’ 

Pininfarina sono stati, infatti varati, 

lo scorso febbraio, alla presenza di 

Bruno e Marco Abbate, di tutte le 

maestranze e i rappresentanti locali. 

Una “prima” speciale avvenuta 

dopo un ciclo produttivo interamente 

svolto nella nuova industria. 

È stato un varo carico di significati

20 febbraio 2008: l’emozione del primo varo 

che vanno al di là dell’orgoglio di 

Marco e Bruno nell’aver raggiunto 

un arduo traguardo ed al di là delle 

tante difficoltà superate dal momento 

in cui il progetto ha preso forma. 

Arbatax C.N. oggi è una realtà 

che nasce sul territorio sardo della 

quale essere orgogliosi in relazione 

all’impatto industriale ed all’indotto 

che genera. Non è un caso infatti 

che nell’azienda di 45mila mq di 

cui 15.000 coperti lavorino 60 persone 

che supportano le diverse aree 

tecniche, le quali hanno prodotto 

già 25 gusci. In quest’ottica bisogna 

sottolineare che il rapporto con la 

Sardegna (che, si spera, darà sempre 

più forza lavoro) è stato sempre 

all’insegna della correttezza e della 

collaborazione. In primis le Istituzioni 

Regionali, Provinciali e Comunali 

così come la Prefettura, la Questura, 

il Corpo dei Carabinieri, la Capitaneria 

di Porto, i Vigili del Fuoco (e 

tanti altri) hanno dato un supporto

Arbatax Shipyards, which started its 

business last September, has already 

given to light the first two Primatist 

yachts. A shiny G41’ Aero Top Evolution 

and a G46’ Pininfarina in fact, 

were launched at the presence of 

Bruno and Marco Abbate, of all 

workers and local representatives. 

A special “premiere” occurred after 

a production cycle entirely played 

in the new industry. It was a launch 

dense of meanings that go beyond 

the Lombard entrepreneurs’ pride 

for reaching a difficult goal beyond 

many difficulties overcome since 

the project has taken shape. Arbatax 

C.N. today is a reality that was 

born on the Sardinian territory, of 

which we can be proud with regard 

to its industrial impact and to the 

satellite industries it supports. It is no 

coincidence that in a company of 

45 thousand square metres of which 

15,000 covered, work 60 people 

who support the various technical 

areas that have already produced 

25 shells. From this point of view, it is 

important to notice that the relationship 

between Primatist and Sardinia 

(that we hope for the future will provide 

us with more and more workforce)

tonnellate, moderni carri ponte,

Il capannone da 3800 metri, 

con un’area antistante altrettanto 

ampia, può “ospitare” fino a 50 imbarcazioni.

Il sud conferma di gradire il prodotto 

Primatist che incontra sempre 

più estimatori. “Un fermento che 

sembrerebbe andare in controtendenza 

rispetto all’economia nazionale, 

ma proprio per questo da tenere 

in particolare considerazione” 

dice il guru della Nautica al Sud 

Franco Turi. Il Salone di Napoli ne 

è la testimonianza; non è un caso 

inoltre che il primo esemplare del 

G53’ Pininfarina vada a navigare

Quel Sud che sorprende… 

proprio sulle acque del Golfo. Tra 

l’area espositiva fieristica della Mostra 

d’Oltremare e quella di Mergellina 

si contavano oltre un centinaio 

di marchi italiani e stranieri. La 

rassegna partenopea, dallo scorso 

anno spostata ad aprile, non ha 

presentato novità sostanziali, ma è 

stata sicuramente una vetrina completa. 

Primatist era presente con 

il G41’.2 e con il G46’ Pininfarina. 

Lodevole l’impegno dello “storico” 

dealer campano Intermotors, rappresentato 

da Franco e Mario Turi, 

con sede a Castellammare di Stabia. 

Una realtà ben conosciuta sulla 

costa campana (per la sua professionalità 

e non solo) che si è fatta 

valere nella fiera più importante del 

centro-sud. La rassegna nautica 

ha richiamato i grandi marchi della 

cantieristica in modo diretto o attraverso 

i propri dealer, sottolineando 

l’interesse verso la Campania 

che continua a guidare, insieme 

alla Liguria, la classifica delle regioni 

italiane a più alto tasso d’immatricolazione 

d’imbarcazioni. Anche 

quest’anno le vendite hanno gratificato 

gli over 40’, mentre hanno ceduto 

il passo le barche al di sotto dei 

30’. Dal capoluogo campano è arrivata 

la conferma che, tra i cantieri 

trainanti il settore, ci sono quelli che 

hanno investito in tecnologia, ricerca

Il Salone di Spalato è un evento 

nautico che sta imponendosi tra 

gli appuntamenti più importanti 

del settore a livello europeo. Sempre 

più cantieri, anche italiani, decidono 

di esporre i propri modelli 

durante questo salone che, giunto 

alla decima edizione, calamita un 

pubblico di interessati - oltre che dai 

Paesi balcanici confinanti - anche 

dall’Europa centro-orientale, principalmente 

da Austria, Repubblica 

Ceca, Ungheria, ma anche Russia e 

Grecia. Per questo motivo, da due 

anni a questa parte Primatist, grazie 

al dealer Amadeus Yachting, non 

può mancare a questo evento i cui 

numeri, sia in termini di espositori sia

in termini di visitatori, crescono ogni 

anno. Anche nell’edizione 2008, infatti, 

un G41’ Aero Top Evolution e 

un G46’ Pininfarina facevano bella 

mostra di sé durante il salone, grazie

The Spalato Show is a nautical 

event which is fast making its name 

amongst the most important appointments 

at a European level. 

More and more boatyards, including 

Italian ones, are deciding to 

exhibit their models at this Show 

which attracts a large amount of 

public interest – not only from bordering 

Balkan countries – but also from 

Central Eastern Europe – mainly Austria, 

the Czech Republic, Hungary, 

but also Russia and Greece. For this 

reason, for the last two years Primatist 

has been present at this event. 

During 2008 edition, in fact, a G41’ 

Aero Top Evolution and a G46’ Pininfarina 

belonging to Amadeus Yachting 

were a stunning attraction during 

the Show. This was also due to 

the careful attention demonstrated 

by Margit and Anton Scheffauer 

who, with their natural courtesy, 

knew how to put to the best advantage 

the two boats on show. “Even 

if the weather was not good, show 

results are positive – Margit and Anton 

Scheffauer affirm – Public and 

interested people are increasing

riempiendo d’orgoglio la famiglia 

Abbate. E sono note figlie della genialità 

di Van de Sfroos che riesce 

a plasmare un personaggio come 

Guido altrettanto geniale ed unico 

nel suo genere. E non è un caso che 

una strofa reciti:

Solo chi ha nell’animo la cultura laghée 

poteva cogliere le sfumature 

di un uomo che ha dedicato la vita 

alle barche, tanto da sacrificare le 

sue lenzuola, innestando nel dna 

della sua famiglia una linfa vincente 

ormai da 60 anni. “Il costruttore 

di motoscafi” deve aver portato 

anche fortuna a Davide visto che 

l’album che lo contiene, intitolato 

“Pica!” e lanciato lo scorso 8 febbraio, 

si è attestato al 4° posto dei 

dischi più venduti in Italia nella settimana 

di uscita. Il brano emana 

un fluido speciale ed è reso ancora 

più magico dal dialetto tremezzino:

rende poetici tutti i personaggi di 

Van de Sfroos. “Davide è un nostro 

caro amico, ma non ci aspettavamo

Un raduno-gara delle sue imbarcazioni 

da disputarsi in estate nelle 

più suggestive località della nostra 

penisola dove gli armatori e i personaggi 

del mondo dello sport e dello 

spettacolo – Alberto Tomba e Jerry 

Calà furono i primi a prendervi parte 

– si fondevano in una scia di divertimento 

e di passione per il mare. 

Questa l’intuizione, brillante, che 

ebbe ben diciotto anni fa Bruno Abbate. 

Il tempo ha dimostrato come 

quell’idea fu effettivamente vincente: 

il Primatist Trophy quest’anno 

festeggia i 18 anni d’età. Una ricorrenza 

importante per la quale 

è stata allestita un’edizione speciale 

che non poteva svolgersi se 

non in Sardegna, là dove Primatist 

ha puntato per lo sviluppo futuro. 

Dal 29 luglio al primo agosto, da 

Portisco si raggiungeranno le più 

belle località della Costa Smeralda, 

navigando tra l’incanto del Mortorio 

e della Tavolara, tra gare di velocità 

pura e di classica regolarità. 

A far da contorno alla competizione 

uno scenario glamour. “Di anno 

in anno abbiamo tarato l’evento 

sull’esigenza dei nostri appassionati 

- ha spiegato Bruno Abbate - oggi 

il Trophy è una settimana di divertimento 

con un pizzico di competizione. 

L’armatore deve solo pilotare la 

sua barca e impegnarsi nella guida 

se ambisce al podio, mentre al resto 

pensiamo noi. La nostra è una macchina 

organizzativa importante perché 

gestire più di cento persone in 

piena estate in Sardegna non è un 

gioco da improvvisare. Nonostante 

il cantiere abbia una connotazione 

sempre più industriale, ci piace

di Margit ed Anton Scheffauer che 

passo dopo passo stanno espandendosi 

e consolidando la loro

charter Primatist in Austria. Risultati 

importanti i loro (in termini di fatturato 

ed ampliamenti aziendali) che 

sono frutto di una concretezza ed

Marina Tribunij is considered a real 

pearl of the Dalmatian Coast and 

it is no coincidence that the deep 

connoisseurs of the area indicate it 

as one of the five best ports throughout 

Croatia. Among these “five 

stars” there is also Novigrad, so the 

hope is that soon the Scheffauers 

can complete the tiara and be present 

in all five stars’.

Lo Special Team Guido Abbate ha 

acceso i motori scegliendo Tremezzo 

per presentare la stagione agonistica 

2008. Naturale entusiasmo, ma 

soprattutto tante novità per la 

realtà sportiva voluta dai fratelli 

Abbate in memoria di Guidino e 

ben nota nel mondo della motonautica 

internazionale. La pattuglia 

di piloti che porteranno i colori dello 

Special Team è capitanata da 

Guido Cappellini che ha fatto una 

scelta importante. Guido Cappellini 

corre con il numero 74. Una decisione 

che accende i colori dell’anima 

e dei sentimenti visto che questo 

numero (che richiama l’anno di 

nascita del giovane Abbate) è diventato 

una sorta di messaggio 

positivo rivolto ai giovani ed è già 

ben conosciuto in diversi eventi (tra 

i quali il Primatist Trophy). Ma ci sono 

altre novità! Cappellini è affiancato 

da un altro campione che correrà 

anch’egli con il numero 74; è Lucio 

Stefani, impegnato nel Campionato 

Italiano e Mondiale Endurance B 

cl. boat production il quale, lo scorso 

dicembre, ha stabilito sul lago

There was the usual enthusiasm, but 

still more for the many new innovations 

in the sporting fields instigated 

by the Abbate brothers in memory 

of Guidino and well known in the 

international speedboat world. The

there is still more to come! Cappellini 

is ideally supported by another 

champion who will also race with 

number 74; the champion being 

Lucio Stefani engaged in the Italian 

Championship and the Endurance 

World B cl. own boat production 

with a 6,70 m. long boat created just 

for the Guido Abbate Trophy. Lucio 

Stefani, with the same unmistakable 

green coloured ‘monocarena’ has 

also recently established a world record 

in the Cat. End B Class S3 with 

the Mercruiser 8100cc (425cv) motor 

by reaching a maximum speed 

of 132.215 km/h on Lake Iseo. Testimony 

that the Abbate family has 

racing in their DNA is Tullio Abbate 

Jr. Wearing the colours of the 2008 

Special Team he will participate in 

the historic Rouen 24 Hour race with 

a specially designed catamaran 

Dac with a 2500 cc Mercury motor. 

This is an ambitious and enthusiastic 

project for the legendary Endurance 

race which saw Tullio Abbate on 

the podium in 2nd place in 2007. 

To complete the programme there 

is also a 12 metre boat bearing the 

name Tullio Abbate. This will race in 

the IPS Champion Supersport Cat. 

under an Italian-Russian crew.

ben 4 volte. Devo ringraziare Bruno, 

- sottolinea il pilota, peraltro vincitore 

anche di due edizioni del Trophy - 

il quale mi ha fornito di un propulsore 

8200cc Mercruiser che pur facendomi 

passare nella massima categoria 

del gruppo B mi ha dato quel 

plus (almeno 10km/h in più) che mi 

mancava. Queste barche sono eccezionali 

sul mosso, hanno una guidabilità 

senza eguali credetemi…”

sta organizzando il record del mondo

it is worth remembering that during 

last season out of nine races (3 from 

the World Championship and 6 from 

the Italian Championship), Lucio 

won 4 times. An incredible result, a 

pity that one too many stops during 

the other races prevented him from 

standing on the podium at the end. 

“Evidently regularity paid – underlines 

the pilot, who was also winner of 

two editions of the Trophy – I have to 

thank Bruno, who supplied me with 

a Mercruiser 8200cc propulsor which 

as well as helping me to reach the 

maximum category in Group B gave 

me that something more (at least 

10km/h extra) which was lacking.

For boat builders, and also for 

Primatist, all launchings are magical 

– difficult to explain – but sometimes 

this moment can have something 

more… something which renders 

it special. Here is an example of a 

unique launching, one that can 

be placed in the book of memoirs. 

In this special showcase can be 

inserted the launching of the G46 

“Gramicia” by the Patrucco family. 

The particularity stems from the fact 

that the entire day was documented 

by Mare TV (CH918 platform 

Sky) Satellite which we can define 

as being a kind of nautical reality. 

Silvia and Mauro Patrucco were 

welcomed to the Grandola and 

Uniti Boatyard by Bruno Abbate, 

assisted by Paola Nova from the 

Primatist Press Office. After visiting 

the Museum Guido Abbate, they 

were taken by helicopter (piloted 

by Commander Alessandro Bonanomi) 

to Portezza where they 

found their “dream”… ready to be 

christened and sailed in. Emotional 

moments for the Piedmont family 

who were unaware of the surprise. 

The entire procedure was documented 

with professionalism by the 

cameraman - director Francesco 

Piras and the attractive television 

interviewer Mara Sacco. The day finished 

with dinner at the Villa Linda, 

Cadenabbia, a usual referral point 

for Primatist for business lunches. 

La Groupage Design di Milano e la 

Facoltà d’architettura del Politecnico 

di Milano hanno organizzato 

un concorso destinato ai giovani 

designer. Il tema era più accattivante 

che mai: interni di yacht. Un 

“terreno” mai come in questo momento 

fertile che ha bisogno di nuove 

idee, possibilmente provenienti 

dalle nuove generazioni. Diversi ed 

interessanti incontri per discutere e 

valutare i lavori dei ragazzi, ma soprattutto 

una giuria di primo livello 

con docenti ed operatori del settore. 

Tra di loro Marco Abbate che ha 

dato un contributo fattivo ed in rappresentanza 

di Primatist ha dato la 

possibilità ai due vincitori di fare uno 

stage in Cantiere. Un premio importante 

che rappresenta una ghiotta 

opportunità per i giovani che devono 

inserirsi nel tessuto produttivo 

dopo un ciclo di studi formativo. Ottimo 

il supporto della Groupage Design 

di Lucia Trinca alla quale vanno 

i più sentiti ringraziamenti di Primatist 

e della famiglia Abbate.

The Milan Groupage Design and 

the Faculty of Architecture at the 

Milan Polytechnic organised a competition 

for young designers. The 

theme was rather more attractive 

than usual: yachts’ interiors. A “field” 

which in this fertile moment has real 

need of new ideas, arising in all 

probability from new generations. 

Diverse and interesting meetings 

were set up to discuss and evaluate 

the work done by these young 

designers, but the main part was by 

a commission made up of teachers 

and personnel from the sector. 

Amongst these was Marco Abbate 

who was a contributing factor and 

as representative of Primatist gave 

the possibility to the two winners to 

hold a stage at the shipyard. An 

important prize which represents a 

welcome opportunity for young people 

who have to learn the practical 

side after a cycle of studying. Huge 

support was given by Lucia Trinca of 

the Groupage Design to whom Primatist 

and the Abbate family give 

their most sincere thanks.

Concettualmente è figlio delle nuove 

forme che caratterizzano sia il 

G70’ sia il G46’ Pininfarina. 16 metri 

di lunghezza e poco meno di 5 

di larghezza per sfiorare i 40 nodi 

con due motori da 800 cv ciascuno 

che sfrutteranno appieno le potenzialità 

del Primatist Tunnel System. 

Una delle tante novità previste potrebbe 

riguardare l’area di poppa 

dove dovrebbe comparire una 

chiusura retrattile per dare all’equipaggio 

il massimo della privacy in 

porto, ma anche l’assoluta tranquillità 

acustica in navigazione. 

Per gli interni le parole d’ordine 

sono: spazio, armonia ed eleganza, 

ma soprattutto tessuti e materiali 

pregiati. Il resto? Da scoprire pian 

piano con tatto e delicatezza come 

si fa con una donna di classe….

Un’occasione per poter toccare 

con mano la storia di una famiglia 

che ha dedicato la propria vita alla 

nautica, ma anche un’occasione 

per far riscoprire al pubblico uno 

scrigno pieno, oltre che delle gioie di 

famiglia (imbarcazioni prodotte tra 

il 1948 e il 1996), anche di ricordi e di 

emozioni. Il 1° Maggio scorso, in occasione 

del ventesimo anniversario 

della scomparsa di Guido Abbate, 

il Museo di Grandola ed Uniti è stato 

eccezionalmente aperto a stampa, 

visitatori e amici. Presenti all’apertura 

straordinaria, Tullio, Chicco e 

Bruno – i tre figli di Guido – accompagnati 

dalle rispettive famiglie, 

parenti, amici, giornalisti e alcuni 

dipendenti del cantiere di Portezza. 

L’emozione è stata forte sia per la 

famiglia Abbate, sia per gli ex lavoratori 

dello storico Cantiere che 

hanno ricordato con affetto e molto 

orgoglio la loro esperienza lavorativa, 

ma soprattutto umana, 

presso il cantiere del grande Guido.
