ALTRE IDEE
PER MIGLIORARE IL TUO INGLESE
SPEAKING SKILLS E CONVERSATION
riguarda strutture grammaticali e vocaboli.
giornali, letteratura, film.
INGLESE B2/C1 SHAKESPEARE CLUB
cod. 61115
This is a club for Shakespeare enthusiasts who will
meet once a week to read, study, ponder and delight
in a play by Shakespeare. While students generally
believe that Shakespeare is too difficult to understand
and imagine that his language is obscure and
outdated, club participants are always pleasantly
surprised to find that Shakespeare speaks to them
in a vivid, modern and extremely expressive way.
This year we will continue our study of Shakespeare’s
four greatest tragedies with Othello, a powerful and
tightly constructed play of exceptional intensity and
concentration, which focuses its headlong action on
the degradation of a noble character into the pitiful
dupe of “honest” Iago’s casual and incomprehensible
evil. As is always the case with Shakespeare’s plays,
this work too is striking for the modernity of its themes:
race, gender, class, jealousy and revenge. The
play will be read and discussed in its entirety and at
least two film versions will be viewed. Students are
asked to bring a copy of the play with an Italian translation
opposite to the first lesson. Join us and do not
miss an opportunity to experience one of the greatest
of universal writers.
