Pieghevole dell'edizione 2019 di "Attraverso la Memoria" manifestazione che commemora i giorni tra il 9 settembre e il mezzogiorno del 13 settembre 1943 quando, circa mille ebrei, concentrati nella residence forcée di Saint-Martin-Vésubie dalle autorità di occupazione italiana, salirono i sentieri che conducevano in Italia, attraverso il Colle di Finestra (m. 2474) e il Colle di Ciriegia (m. 2543), per sfuggire al feroce sterminio nazifascista. Profughi da tutta Europa, tra cui bambini di pochi mesi e persone anziane, scesero in Valle Gesso alla ricerca di un rifugio, il quale per 340 di loro non fu tale ed ebbe come tragico epilogo la deportazione ad Auschwitz .

Entre le matin du 9 septembre et le 13 à midi,<br />
environ mille juifs étrangers, assignés à résidence<br />
forcée à Saint-Martin-Vésubie par les autorités<br />
italiennes d’occupation, firent l’ascension des<br />
sentiers conduisant vers l’Italie par les Col De<br />
Fenêstre (2474m) et de Cerise (2543m) afin de fuir<br />
le génocide programmé par les nazis. Réfugiés<br />
provenant de toute l’Europe, parmi lesquels des<br />
enfants en bas âge et des vieil<strong>la</strong>rds, ils parvinrent<br />
dans <strong>la</strong> vallée du Gesso pour y trouver refuge,<br />
lequel pour 340 d’entre eux, se termina par <strong>la</strong><br />
déportation à Auschwitz intervenue en novembre<br />
1943.<br />

Between 9 and 13 September 1943, about a<br />
thousand foreign Jews: men, women, children,<br />
old people, assigned by the Italian occupation<br />
authorities to live in Saint-Martin-Vésubie, made<br />
the climb up, into Italy, over the Finestra Pass<br />
(2474m) and the Cerise Pass (2543m) hoping to<br />
escape the genocide p<strong>la</strong>nned by the Nazis.<br />
They arrived in the Italian valleys, hoping to find<br />
refuge there, but 340 of those who fled were<br />
interned in Borgo San Dalmazzo, then deported to<br />
Auschwitz, via Nice and Drancy, in <strong>la</strong>te November<br />
and early December 1943.<br />
