12 Ross Lovegrove Ross Lovegrove è nato nel 1958 a Cardiff e si è laureato in disegno industriale al Politecnico di Manchester nel 1980. Nel 1983 ha conseguito un master presso il Royal College of Art di Londra e subito dopo ha iniziato una collaborazione in Germania con Frog Design su progetti come il Walkman Sony e i computer Apple. A metà degli anni ’80 si trasferisce a Parigi dove progetta l’Alessandri Office System come consulente di Knoll International. In seguito al grande successo di questo progetto Lovegrove viene invitato a entrare nell’Atelier de Nimes – insieme a Jean Nouvel e Philippe Starck – per fare da consulente ad aziende come Cacharel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes e Dupont delle quali ancora oggi è consulente. Tornato a Londra nell’98 inizia una collaborazione con il designer Julian Brown che si interrompe due anni dopo quando Lovegrove fonda, sempre a Londra, Studio X. Sono diversi i progetti importanti usciti in questi anni da Studio X per marchi come British Airways, Philips, Apple Computer, Peugeot, Olympus Camera, Luceplan, Kartell, Ceccotti, Cappellini, Fasem, Moroso, Mathmos, F.lli Guzzini, Connolly Leather, TAG Heuer e altri ancora. Lovegrove ha ricevuto molti premi come per esempio Designer of the year 2001 in Germania. I suoi prodotti sono esposti in vari musei come il MOMA di New York e il design Museum di Londra per il quale ha curato la prima collezione permanente nel 1993. Ross Lovegrove was born in 1958 in Cardiff. He gets his degree in industrial design at the Manchester Polytechnic in 1980. In 1983 he gets a Master at the Royal College of Art in London. Soon afterwards he starts collaboration with Frog Design in Germany on projects such as Sony Walkman and Apple Computers. In the mid 80’s he moves to Paris where he designs the Alessandri Office System as a consultant of Knoll International. Thanks to the success of this project, Lovegrove is then invited to enter the Atelier de Nimes, together with Jean Nouvel and Philippe Stark – he becomes the consultant of firms such as Cacharel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes e Dupont, which he is still working with. Back to London in 1998, he starts collaboration with the designer Julian Brown. This collaboration ends two years later, when Lovegrove sets up Studio X, in London. Many important projects came out from Studio X during the last years, for such brands as British Airways, Philips, Apple Computer, Peugeot, Olympus Camera, Luceplan, Kartell, Ceccotti, Cappellini, Fasem, Moroso, Mathmos, F.lli Guzzini, Connolly Leather, TAG Heuer and many others. Lovegrove has been awarded many prizes, among which “Designer of the Year 2001”, in Germany. His creations can be found in many Museums such as MOMA in New York and the London Design Museum, for which he was in charge of the first permanent <strong>collection</strong> in 1993. Après avoir obtenu sa maîtrise en dessin industriel à l’école Polytechnique de Manchester en 1980 et un Master au Royal College of Art de Londres en 1983, il commence à collaborer avec Frog Design, en Allemagne, sur des projets tels que la Walkman Sony et les ordinateurs Apple. Au milieu des années quatre-vingts, il arrive à Paris, où il réalise le projet de l’Alessandri Office System, comme conseiller de Knoll International. Ce projet ayant connu un grand succès, Lovegrove est invité à entrer dans l’Atelier de Nîmes – avec Jean Nouvel et Philippe Starck – comme conseiller en design auprès des entreprises Cacharel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes et Dupont, dont il est encore conseiller aujourd’hui. Revenu à Londres en 1998, il commence à collaborer avec le designer Julian Brown, collaboration qu’il interrompt deux ans plus tard, lorsque Lovegrove fonde, toujours à Londres, Studio X. Studio X a fourni de nombreux projets importants ces dernières années, pour British Airways, Philips, Apple Computer, Peugeot, Olympus Camera, Luceplan, Kartell, Ceccotti, Cappellini, Fasem, Moroso, Mathmos, F.lli Guzzini, Connolly Leather, TAG Heuer et d’autres encore. Lovegrove a reçu de nombreux trophées, parmi lesquels celui de Designer of the year 2001, en Allemagne.
