Six Facilities Host HMA Entourage On Tour Photos By Paul Miller Jr. Williamsport, PA–Members and guests of the Hardwood Manufacturers Association convened here recently to participate in the HMA’s 2014 Northeast Regional Meeting, which included tours of multiple lumber facilities. First on the tour agenda was Wheeland Lumber Co. Inc. in Liberty, PA. Wheeland Lumber is a fourth generation familyowned business that began in 1940. Wheeland handles a multitude of wood species, including Ash, Basswood, Cherry, Hard and Soft Maple, Red and White Oak, Poplar and Walnut. Special available services include kiln-dried lumber, surfacing 2-sides, gang ripping, straight line ripping, moulding, millwork, edged and face glued products. For more information, call 570-324-6042. Patterson Lumber Co. Inc. in Galeton, PA, also welcomed HMA members. Serving the lumber industry since 1921, Patterson is a fourth generation family-operated, high production Hardwood sawmill. The company prides itself on being capable of delivering large quantities of export-quality Hardwood. Its facilities include kiln drying capabilities and dry lumber storage facilities, which allows Patterson to fulfill domestic and international orders. For more information, call 814-435-2210. At Cummings Lumber Co. Inc. in Troy, PA, HMA toured the facility sawmill and band resaw. Founded in 1929, Cummings has a 500,000-foot dry kiln capacity and maintains 1 million board feet of dry storage. Cummings specializes in Hard and Soft Maple, Red and White Oak, Cherry and Ash. Barefoot makes wood pellets from the Hardwood sawdust and waste material produced by their dimension lumber business and their Hardwood flooring facility.
