There are bids for timber that has not been cut yet, so there is definitely availability right now,” he stated. “Future bids could be affected depending on if private landowners walk away or not, or if logging prices go down too much. We’ll see what happens. There could be an oversupply for a while, then there could be some issues with getting green lumber, so we’ll see what happens.” His customers are mostly distributors and cabinet and moulding manufacturers. A salesman at an Ohio sawmill said the market was slow. “The lumber business is slow. The dimension business is good, but the lumber market is getting a little sluggish because of the Chinese,” he stated. He said his best movers are Ash, White Oak and Cherry in primarily upper grades, although he added that all grades are moving. Transportation is still a problem, he reported. “We have our own trucks, which helps some, but it’s still a struggle,” he stated. He said log supply is not a problem. His customers include distributors, end use manufacturers, importers and exporters. n Our Classified Advertising Works!
