Erol Deren, IFG VP of sales and marketing, commented, “This acquisition gives us the opportunity to learn the value-added finger-joint manufacturing process. It will enable further utilization of the fiber resource and compliments our other facilities making the most of the logs that we procure for our mills. We will carefully evaluate the capital needs of this site and invest accordingly.” Herb Janhsen, VP of Merritt Brothers, congratulated IFG, “We wish IFG a prosperous future. We are thankful for the hard work our employees have put in over the years.” Buck and Wayne Merritt started Merritt Brothers Lumber Company in 1968 when they purchased an old sawmill in Priest River, ID. In 1990 they bought the Athol site and eventually sold off their Priest River location. Idaho Forest Group was formed in 2008 when two regional timber interests –Riley Creek Lumber and Bennett Forest Industries – combined their resources. Peter McCarty Joins TS Manufacturing as Southern Sales Territory Manager Lindsay, ON–Peter McCarty has joined TS Manufacturing as the Southern Sales Territory Manager. McCarty brings a wealth of experience and capability in the Softwood and hardwood sawmilling sectors, having more than 23 years of experience in the industry. Previously, McCarty has worked in sawmill maintenance, Peter McCarty machinery engineering and design, project installation and startup, and sawmill equipment and lumber handling machinery sales. “We anticipate his breadth of experience and capabilities to complement TS Manufacturing’s machinery lineup, allowing customers a trusted resource to discuss challenges and opportunities in their operations,” said a company representative. TS Manufacturing is a family owned and operated manufacturer of forest products machinery and equipment. Its facility in Lindsay has more than 65,000 square feet of production capacity. Boise Cascade to Acquire Lumberman’s Wholesale Distributors Boise, ID–Boise Cascade Company, located here, recently announced an agreement to acquire Lumberman’s Wholesale Distributors, a distributor of engineered wood products, commodity lumber items and specialty building materials in Nashville, TN. “We are very pleased to welcome Phil Duke Garey Keltner the Lumberman’s associates to Boise Cascade. LaFleche is a graduate from the University of Alberta with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. Acquisitions, Promotions Announced At Roseburg Roseburg, OR–Roseburg Forest Products, based here, recently reached an agreement in principle with Pembroke MDF Inc. to purchase Pembroke’s medium density fiberboard (MDF) and moulding production facilities located in northeastern Ontario. The acquisition will be Roseburg’s first international purchase and will continue the company’s expansion throughout North America.
