bij 10% van de vrouwelijke muizen. Histologisch<br />
onderzoek toont cysteus weefsel met zowel<br />
ectodermale als mesodermale structuren. 14 Het is<br />
echter niet bekend of de humane variant GATA4 bij<br />
de mens ook kan leiden tot een verhoogde kans op<br />
het ontstaan van een MCT.<br />
Conclusie<br />
Concluderend beschrijven wij een patiënte met multipele<br />
ovariële MCT’s, waarbij de factor toeval in de<br />
etiologie onwaarschijnlijk is. De parthenogenetische<br />
theorie is de belangrijkste, maar niet de enige verklaring<br />
voor het ontstaan van een MCT. Een genetische<br />
component lijkt een rol te spelen bij ten minste<br />
een deel van de MCT’s. Uit dierexperimenteel onderzoek<br />
blijkt dat een afname van de expressie van<br />
de transcriptiefactor GATA4 een mogelijke teratogene<br />
factor voor premeiotische kiemcellen een rol lijkt<br />
te spelen bij het ontstaan van MCT’s. Als de relatie<br />
tussen het ontwikkelen van een MCT en expressie<br />
van humaan GATA4 kan worden bevestigd, zou dit<br />
voor ten minste een deel van de patiënten de genetische<br />
predispositie verklaren.<br />
