Três embaixadores do vôlei serão responsáveis pelas clínicas: Leandro<br />

(levantador da Seleção Brasileira <strong>de</strong> 93 a 99, 5º lugar nas Olimpíadas<br />

<strong>de</strong> Atlanta, vice-campeão da Superliga 94/95 e 01/02), Rafic (vicecampeão<br />

mundial <strong>de</strong> juniores em 95, integrante <strong>de</strong> importantes<br />

clubes nacionais como Sogipa, Flamengo e UNEB, e internacionais<br />

na Argentina, Portugal e Qatar); e Carlos Alberto”Beto” Hipólito (atleta<br />

<strong>de</strong> vôlei durante 17 anos dos quais 7 em equipes paulistas, pósgraduado<br />

em treinamento <strong>de</strong>sportivo).<br />

Nos dias 22, 23 e 24, mais 200 crianças (totalizando 600) do IAV<br />

terão a oportunida<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> conhecer a arena do vôlei: das 13h30 às<br />

16h30 elas farão um tour pelas instalações do complexo, visitarão a<br />

Vila Recicleiros e assistirão às partidas na arquibancada coberta da<br />

quadra central.<br />

Programa Esportivo Social<br />

e Cidadania (PESC)<br />

Implementado pelo SESC/DF, o PESC é<br />

<strong>de</strong>stinado a crianças e adolescentes em<br />

estado <strong>de</strong> vulnerabilida<strong>de</strong> social, matriculados<br />

na re<strong>de</strong> pública <strong>de</strong> ensino. Para auxiliar os<br />

jovens em seu <strong>de</strong>senvolvimento, o programa<br />

oferece ativida<strong>de</strong>s esportivas e <strong>de</strong> lazer, além<br />

<strong>de</strong> reforço escolar e nutricional, educação para<br />

a saú<strong>de</strong>, informações sobre o meio-ambiente<br />

e cidadania. A assistência aos alunos é<br />

complementada com o fornecimento <strong>de</strong><br />

lanches, uniformes, trajes <strong>de</strong> banho, mochilas<br />

e material escolar e <strong>de</strong> higiene pessoal.<br />

Esporte do SESC/DF dá alguns <strong>de</strong>talhes sobre<br />

o programa. “Temos três núcleos – Gama,<br />

Guará e Taguatinga – e aten<strong>de</strong>mos 100<br />

jovens, <strong>de</strong> 7 a 16 anos, em cada unida<strong>de</strong>,<br />

que participam das ativida<strong>de</strong>s três vezes por<br />

semana”. O PESC é oferecido gratuitamente<br />

aos alunos no contra-turno escolar.<br />

IAV e PESC no <strong>Mundial</strong><br />

<strong>de</strong> <strong>Vôlei</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Praia</strong><br />

Durante o evento <strong>de</strong> Brasília, os boleiros, os<br />

meninos que molham a quadra entre os sets,<br />

e os jovens responsáveis pelo banco dos<br />

jogadores (guarda-sóis, água e isotônicos)<br />

virão do PESC. Os meninos e meninas<br />

com ida<strong>de</strong>s entre 14 e 16 anos receberão<br />

treinamento da Fe<strong>de</strong>ração Brasiliense <strong>de</strong><br />

Voleibol para exercer corretamente as funções<br />

e todos serão remunerados pelos dias<br />

trabalhados, além <strong>de</strong> receberem uniforme<br />

e alimentação. “Vai ser muito importante<br />

proporcionar essa vivência aos garotos”,<br />

<strong>de</strong>staca Carlos da Silva.<br />

No dia 19, uma programação intensa: das 9h<br />

às 15h, 600 crianças do IAV participarão <strong>de</strong><br />

clínicas ministradas por ex-atletas do vôlei e<br />

disputarão um torneio entre os núcleos. Os<br />

organizadores do evento fornecerão as bolas,<br />

os lanches e os coletes para a garotada. A<br />

Secretaria <strong>de</strong> Educação do DF provi<strong>de</strong>nciará<br />

os ônibus que levarão as crianças à arena,<br />

<strong>de</strong>vidamente acompanhadas por monitores e<br />

professores do IAV.<br />

The PESC was implemented by the Fe<strong>de</strong>ral<br />

District Tra<strong>de</strong> Social Service Institute (SESC/<br />

DF) to assist socially vulnerable children and<br />

teenagers who attend public schools. In or<strong>de</strong>r<br />

to foster young citizens in their own personal<br />

<strong>de</strong>velopment, the program provi<strong>de</strong>s sports and<br />

leisure activities along with school reinforcement<br />

and nutritional sessions, health care education,<br />

and information about environment and<br />

citizenship. The service is supplemented by the<br />

distribution of snacks, uniforms, bathing suits,<br />

school backpacks, school items, and personal<br />

care items.<br />

Silva points out some <strong>de</strong>tails about the program,<br />

“We have three centers – Gama, Guará and<br />

Taguatinga – and attend to 100 people aged<br />

7 to 16 at each unit. Stu<strong>de</strong>nts take part in our<br />

activities three times a week.” PESC services<br />

are free of charge to stu<strong>de</strong>nts during the hours<br />

they are not attending school.<br />

IAV and PESC at the<br />

World Beach Volleyball Tour<br />

During the Brasília event, PESC will provi<strong>de</strong><br />

people in charge of keeping the balls, wetting<br />

the courts, and ensuring that the players<br />

have all the required items by their benches<br />

(i.e. umbrellas, water and isotonic drinks).<br />

Boys and girls aged 14 to 16 will be trained<br />

by the local volleyball fe<strong>de</strong>ration (Fe<strong>de</strong>ração<br />

Brasiliense <strong>de</strong> Voleibol) so that they can<br />

carry out their functions a<strong>de</strong>quately. All of<br />

them will be compensated for their work, and<br />

will also be given uniforms and food. “Giving<br />

those kids an opportunity to experience this<br />

will be very important,” says Carlos da Silva.<br />

The day will be quite busy on April 19: from<br />

9am to 3pm 600 IAV children will attend<br />

clinics held by former volleyball athletes. A<br />

tournament will eventually be held between<br />

the units. The event organizers will provi<strong>de</strong><br />

balls, snacks, and jackets to the kids. The<br />

Fe<strong>de</strong>ral District Department of Education<br />

has committed to ensuring that all children<br />

have bus transportation up to the sports<br />

arena together with IAV instructors and<br />

monitors.<br />

Three volleyball ambassadors will be in charge of the clinics: Leandro<br />

(Brazilian team setter from 1993 to 1999, ranked 5 th at Atlanta Olympic<br />

Games, vice champion at the 1994-1995 and 2001-02 Superliga), Rafic<br />

(world vice champion at the 1995 junior championship and a player for<br />

several renowned national teams such as Sogipa, Flamengo and UNEB,<br />

as well as international teams in Argentina, Portugal and Qatar), and<br />

Carlos Alberto “Beto” Hipólito (volleyball athlete for 17 years, seven of<br />

which playing for São Paulo teams; holds a graduate <strong>de</strong>gree in sports<br />

training).<br />

On April 22, 23 and 24, other 600 IAV children (200 each day) will have an<br />

opportunity to get to know the volleyball arena. From 1.30pm to 4.30pm<br />

they will have a tour by the complex facilities, visit Vila Recicleiros, and<br />

watch the matches from the sheltered stands of the central court.
