A estada média da região, que se situou em 1,7 noites, diminuiu ligeiramente (-0,1 noites), desde 2007. Este ligeiro decréscimo deveu-se ao facto do número de hóspedes que escolheu os estabelecimentos da região para permanecer ter aumentado, desde 2007, numa proporção superior (+1,9% ao ano) ao número de dormidas que ocorreram (+0,5%), ou seja, chegaram mais hóspedes à hotelaria da região, mas permaneceram menos tempo. Os proveitos totais auferidos pelos estabelecimentos hoteleiros, aldeamentos e apartamentos turísticos desta Área Regional de Turismo situaram-se nos 207,6 milhões de euros. Este valor representou um decréscimo de -2,9% (-6 milhões de euros) face a 2008 e de -0,2% relativamente a 2007 (-809 mil euros). 58
O Turismo em 2009 ART Norte Os hotéis alcançaram o maior número de dormidas nesta região (2.896,6 mil), e destacaram-se, na 1ª posição, com uma quota de 67,8% no total e um aumento, face a 2008, de +1,3%, ou seja, mais 36 mil dormidas. Das restantes tipologias referidas destacaram-se os hotéis-apartamentos, que embora só tenham representado 2,8% do total com 121 mil dormidas, apresentaram um aumento de +6,2% (+7 mil dormidas). Desagregando as dormidas que ocorreram por categorias de hotéis, os de 4* posicionaram em 1º lugar com 697 mil dormidas, que representaram face ao total de dormidas em hotéis, 24,1%, seguidos pelos de 3* com 419 mil dormidas e uma quota de 24,1%.
