The great antiquarian and lover of rarities
Iulius Popa is of a passionate, sensitive, receptive, honest
and dynamic nature. A man of principle, he is construc tive and
reso urc eful in hu man relatio ns hips.
He was educated and formed into a soc ial person
particularly conservative and duplic itous as far back as in school,
being amenable to some influenc es with contradictory results in
the educ ational plan. But his national being was c arefully
cultivated in the traditions of romanities by a family of
Basarabian teachers, who made him fall in love with the book and
respect his forefathers and native land.
The results of such bringing up manifested already during
his student years. These c ircumstanc es could not fail to leave a
beneficial result in the development of this personality
characterized by an amalgamating c ombination of moral traits and
certain virtues determining his individuality. In this sense,
we can talk about an atmosphere in which the future teacher
was educated. Thus, after five years of drilling in Pedagogics
and Psyc hology under the official conditions of the new man
(Homo Sovieticus) formation, he had to continue the treatment of
a serious disease whic h appeared as a result of the devastation
produced by the unnationaliz ing and mutant tentacles of the
“developed socialism”.
Possessing an obvious meditative and prying spirit, the
young teacher engaged himself impetuously in the difficult
process of “bringing” our society to the natural. His Majesty
successfully escapes from the girth of the present Basarabian
collective psychological mentality.
Having the sense of history and possessing the
craftsmanship gift of the publicist writing, Iulius Popa becomes
an expert in the analytic al Art of the fable and of the Romanian
verb.
A desc endent of the tragic and historic al family “Master
Manole” our quill driver got involved in the hard work of
“rebuilding the nation”, seeking excitingly, as well as his whole
