UnTOUCHABLES
Place
Feodorovsky Cathedral courtyard,
1B Mirgorodskaya st.,
metro station "Ploshad Vosstaniya"
Duration
2 h
The premiere of this experimental performance took place as
recently as the spring of 2016, and had a resounding response.
The point is, of course, in the sharpness of the social problem
raised by the creators of the "UnTOUCHABLES", but also in the
unusual theatre form. From October 2015 to March 2016 the
performance authors collected material on the topic "Homeless
Petersburg", recorded interviews with homeless people, and
established direct and very private contact with them. Performance
combines different types of contemporary social theater.
There are elements of documentary theater, where the actors
speak or act out documentary texts, as well as elements of the
witness theater, which brings to the stage the play protagonists
— real people of St. Petersburg — in this case, the homeless.

In one of the performance episodes the method of “forum
theatre” is used: the actors involve the audience in a debate
and jointly seeking solutions of the discused matters.
The show "UnTOUCHABLES" in the frameworks of "The
Access Point" festival will be unusual. It will be performed in
the courtyard of the Feodorovsky Orthodox Cathedral with the
blessing of its abbot — Archpriest Alexander Sorokin. Representatives
of the Russian Orthodox Church and the experimental
theater found an important point of contact — a social
mission, care for people at the bottom of society.
